Nepal Interview Scheduling Questions

Maybe some people who recently had interviews at the Kathmandu embassy can comment on the scheduling procedure. The embassy website info seems to conflict with what I've heard here, but maybe I'm thinking of members' experiences in other countries.

The US embassy site - http://nepal.usembassy.gov/fiance-of-a-us-citizen.html - says 1) after they receive the I-129F they will contact the fiance to pick up instructions on how to proceed ("Packet 3") and 2) the fiance then has to gather the needed documents, go back to the embassy and take the documents just to make the appointment, and then of course they will take the documents again to the interview. Farther down on the page I mentioned, it says they pay the visa fee at the embassy the day of the interview.

I just noticed that they have fiance visa grouped under "immigrant visa", but they have different procedures listed under "non-immigrant visa", including paying the visa fee at a bank, not the embassy.

Was this your experience in Nepal or was everything done online / through mail except for the actual interview date? I could just wait for their letter, but I want to get ahead of things.

One last question - did the embassy email the fiance in Nepal to notify them or only send a letter?

they'll send you an email saying the date of interview. we don't have to send any packets. you'll have to pay for the interview in the embassy itself
