Hey guys,i attached a picture below which I found on NVC website as part of proof of relationship requested at the embassy for interview.it was stated that "most recent tax returns stating both names must be included"as part of the proof of relationship. but how's that possible when I have never lived in the US with my husband, I just asked him now and he said he did not add my name since I'm not there yet until the next tax returns,please is this going to be a problem at the embassy?i really pray not..please your prompt responses will be appreciated thanks.

It says those items are helpful, not mandatory.

The document sent to you said a joint tax return would be helpful, not mandatory. It is just a list of suggested items you can bring in as proof of a bona fide marriage.

I hope he filed tax return as married and not as single. Even if you are not there, he was supposed to file at least as Married Filing Separately (if not Jointly). He would then put your Name as his spouse in the tax return form.

If you are submitting the copies of tax returns he sent to IRS, you name will be there.

If you are submitting the tax return transcript, it would mention "Married Filing Separately" but not your name. This would at least prove he is filing the return as married.

If he has filed the return as single, you don't want to show that to the officer.

Well, I hope you didn't file as single.If you did then get it amended. Because that document is required.

And with a certified copy of your spouse's passport you could have applied for ITIN then file your taxes with your spouse's name on it.

You have to search this forum. This have been asked here countless times.

Well he should have filed Married filing separate. Both names would be listed. But embassies know we get bad misinformation. and even file single when that's wrong. If asked be sure to tell the he plans to amend taxes soon as you get your SSN.

Be sure you have your 2015 taxes in hand if you didn't file with NVC they are asking for that
