LUBBOCK, Texas -- A mentally disabled West Texas teenager who told a school worker she had been impregnated by her stepfather was found with her uterus removed when authorities discovered her body in her family's partially burned home, according to an arrest warrant.

The mother of the 18-year-old who was found dead in Idalou, northeast of Lubbock, in February remained jailed Monday after being arrested last week on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person.

The teenager's stepfather is being held on three counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child. No one has been charged in the death, but the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office has said more charges are coming.

The arrest warrant for the mother alleges the woman knew her husband was abusing her two daughters. The mother doesn't yet face charges related to the younger daughter, who is 15.

The Associated Press generally doesn't identify victims of sex crimes. The AP isn't naming the 15-year-old girl's family members because that could reveal her identity.

Online jail records did not list attorney for either the mother or her husband. A spokesman for the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office didn't return several phone calls Monday seeking comment.

The AP's anonymizing of the family members' names isn't preventing anyone in that small town from knowing exactly who's involved.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

Lubbock is a small, college town so yeah, they know who this is. Truly sad and disgusting.

Well, Lubbock proper has a population of about 250,000 (if I recall), which might put it in the top-10 most populous cities of Texas, or at least close. But there are probably few secrets. Certainly everyone in Idalou knows all the details.

I went there on my last trip to the mainland. I thought it was pretty big, but was informed that folks there knew mostly everyone. Never even heard of Idalou until now...

Lubbock does have the reputation of being a "large small town." I rather enjoyed my couple of visits there, but I can see how it might be or become boring to some.
