Hey all, just found this topic :-)
Just wondering, does anyone know if the flu vaccine is a compulsary one? I never got it through work etc when I had the chance because the one and only time I've had it I had a major allergic reaction to it. I'm wondering if it's a non negotiable for the visa medical. Any idea?

PS I'm getting mine done in auckland. The cost is $360 (currently) and that includes chest xray and blood tests.

Hey there,

I'm not sure about over there, but I did read for the Australian medicals held between April and September the flu vaccine was a compulsory requirement. I've never had it before, had it done 2 weeks ago and have been a bit blah since, won't be in a hurry to get another one lol. If only our medicals were that cheap lol ?

Any bad reaction to the Flu vaccine should be mentioned to the examining Dr. In my case I was exempt from having it administered due to having a sever reaction also. The Dr will then note this on the form that is sent to the embassy.

Cool, thank you. Something to look forward too lol. Off to my doc this week to get proof of my vaccines, so pretty much got everything covered. One more thing though, the price they charge does that include X-rays and blood tests?

No problem :) Yes, the $465 fee includes the x-ray and blood tests, it's just vaccine shots that will cost extra. After paying, they give you a receipt showing what the $465 covered (appointment fee, blood, test, x-ray etc). Also make sure you bring drivers license and passport when going to the appointment AND when picking up your results. They will NOT let you pick up the results without photo ID and you can't get anyone else to pick it up for you. If you haven't already, you also have to pay a $100 deposit to secure the appointment
