Good day everyone!

I've been lurking for a while, and just recently joined. This is, by far, the best forum out there!

I have a quick question, that I hope you all can shed light on.

After a (semi) painless process, I've been approved and have my Visa and package, ready to move to the US.

I'm preparing my house for sale, and downsizing a great deal. My spouse and I will be settling in Utah.

A U-Haul, with all my Worldly belongings, will be towed behind my truck, while my (and her) cats will be in the cab of the truck with us.

What kind of issues will I have (if any) when I get to the POE?

I'm so nervous that something will go wrong, but I'm trying to keep a positive outlook.

Any suggestions on making it as easy as possible, would be great. Or, if you have any experiences to share, I'd also be interested!

Thanks in advance!

You will probably want all the cats vet records, as well as an itemized list of everything in your UHAUL. There have been a few people that I have seen drive in from Canada without much issue but they were farther east than you so who knows.

Thank you!

I'm getting everything I need well before I move.

Cats are getting Rabies Vaccinations, and my truck is getting EPA compliance letter from Ford.

Thanks on the advice of the packing list!

I know the guards at the POE (North Dakota) are pretty good....save for one guard I had one time. He used his power to give me a hard time just going for a visit, for no apparent reason.

From what I read, it'll take approximately an hour to do the whole process. Will my spouse have to go in with me? Or do you think she'd be allowed to stay in the truck with the cats, in the air-conditioning? She's a USC, so they have to let her back in. :)

Im sure they would just do the regular check up with the USC like checking their passport. You can always explain that you want to make sure the cats have Air conditioning so after your spouse is clear that they can go sit in the truck with them :). Good luck

I crossed the border by myself. :) So I am sure your spouse can stay in the car. The whole process did take about 45 minutes. An officer looked over my car/ VIN number etc.

Pretty painless! Sounds like you will be fine, but do be prepared as stated above and have a list of everything!
