Hi Everyone -

My fiancee has her k-1 interview at the end of March. She'll be entering the country as soon as she gets her visa so I *hope* that will imply first week of April. She has a job lined up that I helped her get, but they need her to start before the 2nd week of July. What are the realistic and best case options?

Her interview is in Montreal, so I figure the options in my mind are:

1. Come in directly to JFK, get married, and file AOS and EAD the second we can. It should be finished by 3 months, which gives us about a 1 week leeway.

2. Fly somewhere else and route back to JFK looking for a temporary work authorization.

Am I missing something? Any help in how we can get this done as fast as possible would be amazing. I can potentially get my congressman to push for a faster processing time if that works as well as the firm?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

one thought - if you are flying to the US from Canada, you clear customs at the airport in Canada, not at the arriving airport so, yes you would have to fly to another country first, then to JFK to go thru customs there.

You might be better off having her drive across a land border that offers a temp employment stamp. The JFK thing sounds like a real hassle for you.

Ahh ic. Thanks Jane. I noticed you were able to get your EAD in 2 months. Do you think this is reasonable? It would be fine if she got it in June.
