Sorry to hear that. Name check is nasty sometimes. If your name was sort of common Chinese name, it might take a while I guess. Will keep you posted at least and see how the interview goes. Cheers!

Wish you get approved on spot! I am losing hope... I kind of want to give up

Why is that? You have your EAD and AP in hands already which means you should be able to live a regular life these days like getting ID, SSN#, Driver's License and even travel aboard for a short visit. You can always renew these two every year if ever it takes that long. Things should start rolling soon for you. Enjoy the marriage life with your spouse!

Just thinking of those filers from Denver, Dallas or Houston, it's very normal for them to wait over 1 year for the interview.

I'd say longer. It takes around 3 months to approve EAD/AP these days. By the way, you still haven't gotten your green card or even a date for your interview? It seems like they are really doing some background check on you. Probably a very common Chinese name?

Still FBI name check pending! My name is not that common.... I have no idea how many years it will take. So annoying!

Hey guys, I need some insight. I already have my EAD but no interview yet for my AOS. It's been 2 months since my biometrics and 100 cases from mine have already had their interviews scheduled. Is that normal for Detroit,Michigan or not?

One thing I have learned from my journey is just to be patient. My interview was scheduled just a bit less than 2 months after my biometrics and about 10 days after receiving my EAD. In general, from what I can tell on other people's timeline here, if there is no RFE or you are not stuck in FBI background check, Detroit office usually takes around 4-5 months to process AOS cases. RFE should not take too long as long as you response in time. FBI background is very hard to say. It could be days, months or years case by case. Like the other guy in this thread, he/she filed in mid Feb, but according to their timeline, they still haven't had their interview yet; on the other hand, I filed on the last day of March and had my interview in early Aug and got my GC a week after. But his/her case is one of the few that falls out of the regular 4-5 months time frame.

The status of my I-485 never changed from to "ready to schedule" or whatever; whereas lots of cases around mine were updating. After I received my EAD, I was more focused on job hunting, and one day morning it just jumped to "interview scheduled" when I expected it the least. Haha!

So yeah, normally, you should get your interview date soon! Good luck!!

Thanks this helps me a lot! Waiting is making me anxious sometimes but I already got my EAD a week ago so I think I should be more grateful. :)

Thanks for the reassurance guys :D I had a pleasant surprise this morning and my status immediately changed to interview is scheduled! Yay!! I'm gonna be in Dec 8

Woohoo! Told ya!! Good luck to you at the interview. Most officers seem really nice and professional at Detroit office. My interview was really smooth and positive there. Again, good luck!
