I contacted the senator office to check on my application and this is what uscis replied:

"Thank you for your inquiry of October 13, 2016 on behalf of your constituent, regarding her request for an update on her N-400 Application. Current processing time for Form N-400 is approximately 5 months. Currently, your constituent's application is in the process of resolving preprocessing checks and has not been sent to the Albuquerque Field Office for interview. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can't anticipate when we will receive her file for interview.""

Does that mean it is still in background check???

Hello! I am a newbie and has no idea how the forum works, so please bear with me. I am also a May filer with an IOE receipt number. I've sent my paperwork on the exact day of my 2-year green card expiration date which was May 18, 2016. I did my biometrics in June and I received the email notification saying that I was scheduled for an interview 3 days ago. Yesterday, when I logged into my account, I saw the PDF copy of my interview. It's on December 5. I was hoping to get a November interview date because I really want to go home in January (I haven't been back since I arrived here 4.5 years ago) but the Sacramento field office is probably packed around fall season? I'm just a little disappointed because I really miss my family. I didn't know this whole naturalization thing takes forever to process. I guess I got used to the fast processing of my K1, AOS, and ROC, or had I known it will take this long, I would've applied 3 months before my 2-year green card expired.

Laraabq - it sounds like your background check is still in process.

Although I've also heard they continue background checking the whole wait time. Did you try and submit an online inquiry yourself and ask this specifically "am I in line for interview?" Do not ask if background check is complete.

Had my interview today. Went smoothly. Here's what I remember.

After some administrivia, I was asked to read the question "Who lives in the White House?"

Then I was asked to write the answer "The President lives in the White House."

Then I was asked 6 civics questions:

1) What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen? (uphold the constitution)

2) Name two national U.S. holidays (Xmas, Thanksgiving)

3) Who was the first president? (George Washington)

4) What movement tried to end racial discrimination? (Civil Rights Movement)

5) Where is the Statue of Liberty? (NY Harbor)

6) Who is the governor in your state? (Pat McCrory)

I was then asked several of questions 30-43 from the N400 (the answer to all of which was "No")

I was then asked questions 45-50 from the N400 (the answer to all of which was "Yes")

I was then told that I had passed and would be scheduled for the oath. Unfortunately my oath is scheduled for Nov 9th so I won't be able to vote. I got my oath letter in a few minutes and was on my way.

The immigrations officer I worked with was extremely friendly and cordial. The entire process was painless and done in about 15 minutes.

Updating the matrix below. I'm going to cheat and turn it red before my oath so I don't have to update it again.

Then I was asked 6 civics questions:

1) What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen? (uphold the constitution)

2) Name two national U.S. holidays (Xmas, Thanksgiving)

3) Who was the first president? (George Washington)

4) What movement tried to end racial discrimination? (Civil Rights Movement)

5) Where is the Statue of Liberty? (NY Harbor)

6) Who is the governor in your state? (Pat McCrory)

I was then asked several of questions 30-43 from the N400 (the answer to all of which was "No")

I was then asked questions 45-50 from the N400 (the answer to all of which was "Yes")

I was then told that I had passed and would be scheduled for the oath. Unfortunately my oath is scheduled for Nov 9th so I won't be able to vote. I got my oath letter in a few minutes and was on my way.

The immigrations officer I worked with was extremely friendly and cordial. The entire process was painless and done in about 15 minutes.
