Did the 1 week early walk in for biometrics today. While the lady was pointing at the appointment date and telling me early walk in is just for emergency cases , i guess she couldn't stop herself from allowing me coz there was no one in the waiting area.

Hello all- excited to join. Filed 5/23, right at the start of the 90-day window (using the USCIS calculator, so they can't reject me).

I got a little nervous as I've seen a lot of people sending in tax returns and the like: the instructions very clearly state that for the form N-400, you only have to submit photos, a copy of your marriage cert and green card (front/back) (military documents don't apply to me). That is what I did.

It's quite clear from the instructions that the other documents (Tax returns, real marriage certificates etc) should be brought to the actual INTERVIEW, not sent with the initial form. I don't have anything to worry about right? Just looking for some reassurance I guess.

Hi and welcome!

First of all, what documents to send with your application depends on how you are applying for Naturalization: 5year rule, 3 year rule (married to a US citizen), service in US military, etc.

I see that you (like my wife) have applied under the 3year rule. On page 11 of the Form N-400 Instructions it says that "Below is a list of documents to bring with you to your Form N-400 interview." and it lists IRS tax transcripts as one of the evidences for your marriage to your US spouse. Then, on the first page of Form M-477 (Document Checklist for Naturalization) it says "Send copies of the following documents, unless we ask for an original." and then again lists IRS tax transcripts as one of the evidences for your marriage to your US spouse.

So, you are correct that on the instructions page it says BRING the transcripts to the interview but it says to SEND them with the application. Honestly, I think you are safe and you shouldn't worry at all! After reading tons of posts and forums here on VJ it seems that for the purpose of getting to the interview they only need the basic documents that you mentioned (form, photos, marriage cert and green card) and IF there are any documents needed (or missing) you can bring all of them to the interview. I very much believe that the immigration officer at the interview has the final say in this process and if you present everything to them at the time of interview there shouldn't be any problems.

So, sit tight with the rest of us here and for both my wife's and your sake let's hope that the angels at the Los Angeles office get their together and review the applications faster :ranting:

I've been trying to login to check the status and check our supporting documents for the past few days but after logging in it goes to a different page than before and all I can see are some general info for various immigration topics! I can still check the case status on USCIS website using the Receipt Number (IOExxxx) but no luck with the online account access.

I have the same issue. I was once able to view/download the supporting documents I sent and the notices USCIS sent to me on the uscis.dhs.gov site. Now I see the same you are seeing. They have the "Coming Soon" box which I guess they are updating for Case status tools.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one. I was able to log in and view the supporting documents right after we got the NOA but forgot to download them. I know it's not super important though :)

They are testing out and updating the website. I was able to load and preview the beta version of their site last week and I think they're still making changes. This week every time I logged in, it would send me a one-time password to my email and my phone, although sometimes just using my password worked.

For some reason I was never able to log in with cellphone one-time password validation code but email worked...On the separate note when I look at processing times @ https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do and Look at Dallas...updated May 12th for March 31st data...showing processing September 23rd ...so behind in updating...
