I received today a letter to come for biometrics appointment on the 28th. I've never been more confused. I did the bio appt 10 months ago. Will call them in the morning. Hopefully that doesn't mean that I have to wait another year, that would only add up to my stress.

That is is crazy. wow...

I meant 28th of Feb.

Well looks like another couple months waiting time

I think they just looked at the screen on their website and said that date, I am pretty sure they are working on April filers as a lot of them have gotten approvals. They just havent updated their website.

Hi guys.

I 'm new here. I applied I751 almost 11 months ago and I still haven't heard anything, even their website can not recognize my case number ( except the case number for my bio ) , I called them and they sent a letter to me two months ago and they still working on the case from Dec 2015.

The case number from your biometrics letter is the only one that ever shows up.

Maybe they didn't get a clear enough fingerprint on the first time around or something. At least while you're there you can treat it like an infopass appointment and get some answers. Sorry that happened.

Yes, they just read the number off the screen, as though it was current. Those numbers (which were just posted yesterday) were current as of the end of Feb (so 6weeks out of date already). They do that so they don't get a million service requests (which would slow them down even MORE). But we know that they're actually working on April filers. USCIS will never admit that, though.

I hope I will hear something in 3 weeks. Then it will save me a trip to go to the local office for stamping my passport.

Then why there are 2 case numbers on the paper?

Good question.

The first one is the case number for your I-751. But once we are in the system with that page, they open the CR-89(?) (I think that's right... don't have the sheet right in front of me.)

The I-751 is like the I-130. The I-130 was asking for permission to apply for a CR1 visa. The I-751 form is us proving that we qualify to have our conditions removed. (Which is to say: We are/were married to our sponsor, and we got our Conditional GC within the appropriate time window.) The case number on the I-751 only gets used 2 times. "yes we received it" and "yes, you filled in the right form". Then it generates a CR89, with a new case number.

The CR-89 is the actual thing we're applying for. Once they check off "yes, you qualify" on the I-751, it's basically done, and they start processing the CR-89, with biometrics and evidence and whatnot.

So we know that the I-751 is received, and it was the right form. So we don't need that case number anymore. The only thing we needed it for was if we hadn't received the new case number (didn't get a biometrics letter).

Now we're on a new process, with a new case number (The CR89) and it's the only one we need now.

This may or may not be exactly right, but it seems to make sense especially in a government setting. Each task (or each step) generates its own case number, some of which are "trackable" and some of which are not.

Hello everyone I am new to this forum. My husbandfiled to get conditions removed last may. We recieved the letter with receipt date 5/23/16 and but his visa experied 6/2/16. I know VSC is still working on april filers by reading this forum and it is also what our attorney told us. Now our concern and anxiety comes from the fact that we are buying a house and settlement is set for the end of may.  Weve talked to our lender as well as our realtor bank is waoting for the underwritter to ok everything but the bank person said that we may need tl have an actual valid card. When speaking to our attorney he said at we could schedule an infopass and get my husbands passport stamped but im not too sure the bank will go for that and the not knowing is making both of us really anxious. On top of this im pregnant and high risk and this whole situation with Trump deporting people is making so nervous.  Also hubby had an interview for a potential new job which would be great but even if he gets it his green card will be expired so who knows if he will get it.  Any may filers gotten an approval? If your an april filer, when did u file? Just looking for any info i can get, when we type our case number online on uscis website, nothing shows up which makes me.worry even more. Our attorney said something should come in the next month but the waiting is seriously killing us. We feel so stuck an dont know what to do. Thanks

You will have to learn to be your own advocate with the bank, mortgage companies and jobs. You know your husband is still in status. The extension letter proves that, and if that expires you can get the I-551 passport stamp. Encourage anyone who needs to know and resists just accepting your paperwork to contact USCIS or use the E-Verify tools that are offered by USCIS and Immigration. The bank is legally required to "go for that".

Make sure your husband carries his expired green card AND extension letter (or, potentially, passport with stamp) anywhere he may be asked for proof of residency, and be prepared to calmly and confidently assert your rights. Your husband is a permanent resident until and unless he is actually denied (which won't happen, given that you're obviously in a real marriage, buying a house, etc etc). So if you need to, do some practicing with a friend, pretending to be a bank officer or boss who won't accept your proof. This will probably help you deal with your anxiety, if you have a plan.

Finally, you're probably entering the wrong case number on the USCIS website. Lots of people make the same mistake so don't worry.  The number you want is on your biometrics letter. There are 2 case numbers on that letter. One of them will be the same as the one on your NOA1. Ignore that one. Use the other one, and you'll probably get the message that they've received your application etc etc etc. That message probably won't change until your card is being produced. Maybe not even then. But at least you'll get some kind of message and that will probably ease your worries, too.

Good luck. Stay calm.

If I understood you correctly, then something is wrong with my case number. the only case number of me that work on their website is the one on the paper which it shows my gc extended for one year. and on their website comes with this message:

On May 17, 2016, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number EAC***********, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by June 16, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

the other case number that was generated after this one, doesn't work for me and comes with this message:

Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

  • My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Even when I call the USCIS, they have no answers why my case number doesn't work.

I'm currently in the process of buying a house also.  The Morgage insurer did not accept my extension letter initially because it had faded so much (lost of us with traveling)  but with better scanned copies and I sent a screenshot of my USCIS case status and they accepted it! They shouldn't deny you if you provided the extension letter.

you need to enter the ID number from the scheduled biometrics appointment letter.  not your extension letter.
