Ok, Family as I can see April fillers apps are moving --- I Think that by middle on November we start seeing some movement in thread --- but as of now we are still in the waiting game

With the federal holidays coming up (Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas), I'm leaning towards an approval by the end of the year. I do hope VSC picks up the pace for everyone sitting there :-(

11/22/2016: I-751 Approved!

Hoping we get it sooner than that though. I really hope for November, I want to apply for a DL as soon as possible.

Also, I just returned to the US a week ago after being a month on vacation. Had no issues at the CBP with the extension letter, I think we were there for max 10 mins. They took my pic, fingerprints, asked if we still live in Hawaii and what are our jobs and that was it.

Hello everyone!

Can somebody please add me to the spreadsheet?

Mailed i-751 package: 05-09-16

NOA1: 05-10-16

Bio apt: contacted USCI 07-20. got bio letter 07/23. bio appt: 08/11

I've seen several may applicants with the same issue that I had where the bio apt took 3 months!

I wonder if this will make our cases take much longer than the ones who had the bio apt within the regular 1 month timeframe...

My USCIS Journey...

 

I had an I-485 filing already submitted through an employment-based application. Post-marriage, I submitted an I-130, which after being approved was interfiled with the existing I-485.

Interfiling/AOS Timeline:

01/03/14 - Day 274 - Interfiling request received by USCIS

04/03/14 - Day 364 - Interfiling service request sent

04/30/14 - Day 391 - Second interfiling service request sent

05/19/14 - Day 410 - Email sent asking for case status update

06/04/14 - Day 426 - Response received that I-485 was transferred to NBC

06/05/14 - Day 427 - I-485 updated to "sent to local office for processing"

07/02/14 - Day 454 - Status changed to testing & interview. Interview date August 4!!

08/04/14 - Day 487 - Mini-Stokes interview. IO intended on approving AOS but the computer did not show I-130 approval. The wait goes on...

08/18/14 - Day 501 - Spoke with Tier 2 IO - said that my I-485 is approved but no card prodn ordered. Asked to call back in 2 weeks if no update.

08/29/14 - Day 512 - Spoke with Tier 2 IO - said that my I-485 was not approved yet, but my file was with an IO for a decision

09/03/14 - Day 517 - Wrote a request to my Congressman asking for assistance

09/09/14 - Day 523 - Status updated to Card/Document Production

09/15/14 - Day 529 - Status update - Card mailed to address on record/permanent resident status registered

09/15/14 - Day 529 - Status update - Card picked up by USPS.

09/16/14 - Day 530 - GREEN CARD RECEIVED IN THE MAIL!!

Upon further looking into it, I found that Green card holders can not vote. So, I contacted our local registration office and removed myself from the list. I searched online and realized that few peoples have got in trouble for voting while being on the Green card.

I am in the midst of collecting documents to demonstrate that my name has been removed from the registration and I have never voted in any US election. This apparently matters when you apply for Cirizenship. Not sure its impact on the Green card extension; may be nothing to minimal.

You may know this already, but I had quite an eventful weekend to sort this out. So just wanted to share...

I did some limited research online and found (to my surprise) that GC holders can vote in local and state elections but not in federal elections. I used to think that GC holders can not vote at all, period.

Why can't you apply for a driver's license?

I thought, the only requirement for DL is proof of legal presence - temporary or permanent. With temporary (which is really not temporary but conditional) GC my wife got a DL that was going to expire the day her GC expires. But after she got the NOA1 the DMV in California extended the DL for another year.

However, now she is working in Ohio and Ohio gave her a DL that will expire in 4 years (this is even before the ROC).

So I am not sure why you cannot apply for a Hawaii DL right now?

Why can't you apply for a driver's license?

I thought, the only requirement for DL is proof of legal presence - temporary or permanent. With temporary (which is really not temporary but conditional) GC my wife got a DL that was going to expire the day her GC expires. But after she got the NOA1 the DMV in California extended the DL for another year.

However, now she is working in Ohio and Ohio gave her a DL that will expire in 4 years (this is even before the ROC).

So I am not sure why you cannot apply for a Hawaii DL right now?

If I apply now with the extension letter, they are only gonna issue it until June 2017 when my extension letter expires. If I go with the gc, then I believe they'll issue it on 8 years. It's difficult to take time off work to do this thing, especially since I am saving all my vacation days in case I need to look after my 1 year old.

Yeah, mine is just until May 2017. I am at the DMV a lot since they would only give me 1 or 2 years on my DL.
