Just had my wife's Biometrics appointment at USCIS in Seattle. The woman taking fingerprints gave my wife a hard time for not having her Green Card with her, even though the Biometrics Letter states that you only need a photo ID and that bringing the Green Card isn't mandatory. My wife had her drivers license and a photocopy of the Green Card, but the lady still had to call a supervisor over to get approval to move forward. It's like USCIS doesn't even know their own processes. My wife doesn't typically carry her Green Card for fear of losing it and then having to pay that hefty replacement fee. Anyways, we're good now until the interview or the new card shows up. Yay.

They are not really government offices. USCIS just outsource the finger printing thingy to those ASCs

BTW, a permanent resident is legally required to carry the original green card with them at all times, though I agree that it's probably better to not do that to avoid losing it - the chance of losing it is a lot greater than the chance of being detained in most of the country.

If you have not received your ASC notice by the end of the day today (30 days after you NOA), call USCIS to check for any updates! Good luck to you!

Still no sign of Biometric, got an email reponse from USCIS for my ticket though:

#The status of this service request is:

On 06/24/2016, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your Form I-751 to tell us that you have not yet received your appointment notice to have your biometric images processed at the Application Support Center (ASC). Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

We are unfortunately experiencing a longer processing period than what is reflected on your Form I-751 Receipt Notice. Please know that your name has been electronically added to the appointment scheduler. You will receive an ASC appointment notice, by mail, once an appointment date has been established for you.

We hope this information is helpful to you. #
