I guess no-one bothers to plow the streets over here then...

They just started out here. I can hear the trucks now.

Bloody useless bunch... Last time this happened I remember watching the weather for 2 days in advance of the storm with the weather reporter clearly explaining what was coming... Then after the storm hit the NYC authorities claim to have been "caught off guard". I mean what more do they need - a couple of crazies with "world ending" banners?

You guys need to move to the Colorado Rockies. You would never complain about the snow in the NE again. :P

Hey, I've actually lived in Alberta--similar to Coloroado but with lower-still temps.

(and, unfortunately, the dry snow of Colorado is much nicer than the wet, slushy stuff on the northeast)

Dry snow was mostly a memory this year. I usually live in the NE myself.

omg the taxes! the entire NE has high taxes. NJ is catching up to taxachussets.

according to this nj is #1

Where did they get their numbers? In this here area of FL, you'd be up for somewhere around $3,800 worth of taxes on that quoted 189,500 property. If you're homesteaded, that is. Otherwise, you're on the hook for about 4,350.00. I only wish my property tax would be in the range of $1,500.00...

In the populated areas of NJ a $189,500 house doesn't exist. People pay $10,000 or more a year in property taxes. Gupt can verify I believe.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Yeah, the other side of this idiotic "Save Our Homes" is people trapped in their homes. Just can't afford to move. Which is why we bought a place big enough for the threeof us and the second baby we're looking to have down the road. I just hope they come up with a decent fix to this mess.

Exactly. If Charlie gets this straightened out, I might just vote for him next time around.

In THEORY.

I've several times been told that Boston is "not too pricey", or asked about projects in NYC (as soon as I mention the rates, they try to offer a rate barely above my current hourly--which would work if I commuted from Philly maybe).

Wages in PA at least are reasonable to cost.

Travellability-wise, the northeast is an absolute disaster--as I've NEVER found any reasonable connexions to YYC from any airport northeast of Philly (PHL)!

$190,000? Only a fixer upper with boarded windows in the Newark ghetto.

NJ average property taxes is $6000/year. I pay about 5.5 for a 3 bedroom townhouse. It's worth anywhere between 300-350k. My town has a below-average school district, next town over is much better - this identical townhome there would cost 400-450K with taxes in the 7-9K range.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
