How many pages of tax return to include

Hello Everyone,

My fiance and I are preparing the documents for K-1 visa interview. Part of the instructions we received for the form I-134 Affidavit of Support were to include "Tax returns for the last year (Form 1040)." So I'll include last year's tax return. Does anyone know if I need to include the entire 15 page tax return with all the supporting schedules or just the 2 pages of the 1040? Also, should I include my state tax return as well?

I know this seems silly, but all of our documents, especially the proof of relationship, are adding up to be a lot of pages, and I'd like to cut down on the bulk if possible, so that he won't be sifting through a huge stack of papers at the interview. Anything to make this easier!

Thank you all, take care!

If you want to include the Fed ITR, be sure to include all schedules, tables, forms, etc....the whole enchilada. For this very reason many folks obtain and submit the IRS-provided tax return transcript for the necessary year. They are free, a lot less paper, and accepted by USCIS, check out this link for more information: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript. USCIS is not interested in state ITRs.

This is an often discussed topic, use the forum search function for further information.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

You are talking about tax returns, my response was specifically speaking about IRS-supplied tax return transcripts. Were you specifically requested by a government official to provide certified copies of your tax returns? Are you self-employed?

Plain IRS-supplied tax return transcripts have been successfully used with Form I-134 submissions, and are specifically mentioned on pages 7-8 of the Form I-864 instructions: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

oh - understood. I see the link. I'm not self employed. I'm just going to request my transcripts from the IRS online then. Thanks! :D
