So, I called the NVC today and thankfully we have a case number now.

Here's the problem: When filing the I-130 we had requested the Montreal consulate. However, the consulate code on my case number is for a different country (where I was previously residing for a short while) and not Montreal. I'm in Canada now and there's no way I can interview anywhere other than Montreal, especially not the other country. Does anyone know what can be done to fix this?

Is the address they have for you the one in Canada or the one in the different country?

If Canada, you'll need to call and explain about switching consulates.

If the other country, you'll need to call and follow the instructions to change your address (I believe it's option 5)

We did a change of address during the USCIS stage and the address they now have on file is my Canadian address.

Could we continue with this current case number and get the consulate changed during the time we're sending the AOS and IV paperwork or do we have to wait for a new case number?

That's really weird why they wouldn't assign your consulate based on your new address. As to your question, I'm not 100% sure. I want to say you can continue through to case complete and then when done, ask for a consulate change, but of course I'd hate to say that and them tell you something different/bad and that cause a hardship for you =/

Congrats!!

Thanks!

Quick question: The DS-261 asks for the beneficiary's given name. Does that mean first and middle name? In Germany, there is no such differentiation, they're both in the same field in the passport.

Hello,

I've just had my I-130 approved after 84 days from originally filing it. I guess that the next step is to be assigned an NVC case number? I'm currently in the UK. Any idea how long (roughly) it will take from now to medical / interview, if all of my paperwork is in order?

Thank you all in advance.

Yes, your spouse files an I-864, any additional sponsors file I-864A

No, that's not right... If the sponsors are joining income they will file an I-864 and an I-864A that's when they live at the same house..... But if they are different sponsors they have to file two I864.... In my case, my husband filed an I-864 and a close friend filed an I-864 also.... We were thinking about using his sister as a sponsor but she doesn't make enough to sponsor me... But if we had used her as a sponsor she would have had to add her income with her husband... So her husband would have had to file an I-864A....

That's in the NVC page... Idk... People can correct me here.... :)

I know this is difficult, but I will keep trying. It will work because, this distance is nothing compared to our love.

10/2013 we met at church in USA, through some common friends. We became friends.

06/07/2014 we went to our first date. :dancing: Why did we take so long to go out? :ranting:

02/17/2015 - 03/09/2015 He came back to Colombia to visit me and met my family. :star:

05/12/2015 We couldn't stand the distance, so he decided to move here with me.

05/28/2015 We got married at the notary. 06/06/2015 We got married at church :D

Hey Guys- my case was just sent to NVC and i'm awaiting a case number.

However and for some reason I cant seem to find the information anywhere:

Is NVC sending us a list of documents they want (AOS + IV Package)? I know which documents to send but I just want to have the piece of mind of having a list from NVC

Also, for Montreal Consulate applicants, do we send to the normal NVC EP email address or is there a special one?

Thank you!
