If you have a Gmail account go there install Google hangouts. It's free to call.

I have lived in Nigeria through the entire NVC Process and called NVC 2 to 3 times a day.

And Nigeria network sucks. But it worked fine.

I love free calls. I call my family all US business. You dial like you are in US.

Give it a try. Get a Gmail account. ;)

I have downloaded the app freetone that someone mentioned in the thread. I have not tried it yet since I don't need to call yet.

So you are filling from abroad. How much documents can be sent to pass the proving domocile? I have read the suggestions on VJ but what do you suggest?

You and Your spouse live in abroad or One of you lives in US?

If you or your spouse live in US, you can just show the apartment lease, mortgage or bills, bank statement to establish domicile.

If both of you live in abroad, please read saylin's ideas for domicile http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process.

I filed from abroad, I just copy the cover letter from saylin's wiki then I tried to get the information as much as I could.

I amended my cover letter to explain what I did to establish domicile.

I didn't get anchecklist for domicile. That cover letter really helped me.

Ah, I completely forgot to let you know that my cases is officially at NVC. I was too busy with exams and relaxing afterwards. I'm so happy that it is now there, but we don't have a case number or IIN yet. Hopefully, we can get that within the next few days? What do you think? It seems it takes about 2 weeks at the moment?

Congratulations to all those who got CC! You're so close to being done & see your loved ones again :D

For your question, yes sending that form is no longer required I believe.

Thanks a lot, Angela, you're the best!

Hi, the welcome letter usually comes a day or two after you have received your case number (it's been taking a day lately) the DS-261 should be available to you to complete right after you receive the case number. It is the AOS Fee that usually is available until after the welcome letter.

Just real quick to confirm my fuzzy memory: We get the case number and IIN at the same time, right? And then we can complete the DS-261 right away, unless something funny happens? We're working on getting everything ready for the paperwork at the moment, trying to be as proactive as possible (but we're still not sure if we should use e-processing or mail everything, as e-processing is available for us)...

That reminds me, however - if we chose to mail everything

That reminds me, however - if we chose to mail everything, are normal copies (not notarized or anything) ok for the police certificate, birth certificate of beneficiary and so on? I know the forms have to be signed properly and need to be in the original form, unless you use e-processing.

The very first post on this thread as the NVC wiki process. Read through that carefully. Wait at least 1 week and then start calling NVC to confirm they have received your approved petition. Once they do, then wait at least another week and start calling them for your Case and Invoice numbers. The NVC process shown on wiki is very thorough.

Yes, you get both case number and Invoice number at the same time. Photocopies are fine to send to NVC unless they specifically come back asking for the original document. Otherwise, all original documents for the Beneficiary will need to be take with him/her to his/her interview.

Great, thanks LinJoe :) I'm trying to make sure we have as much in line or at least on its way before we get the case number and IID. As for the beneficiary's paperwork, that's perfect, then we may very well do that.

We both live abroad. I do not have a bank account right now but will have one soon. Will a bank statement and filled taxes be enough to prove domicile. I be traveling to the US in June to set things up, will include my ticket to US and a bus ticket to the town we will be moving to. A lease would be hard now since we might be looking at moving in September if everything goes by the time frame on VJ. Renting a place now and pay rent for 3 months and we are not there is to expensive for us right now.

I will have emails from apartment complexes that I am looking for one. I will have emails from local daycare and school showing we are registering them as soon as we move.

I will not have a job offer when sending all the AOS and IV documents but I am hoping to have one by the interview.
