I've asked my husband to call but he's not the best at that. He tried once yesterday and once today. He fell asleep on hold ugh lol! So now I'm waiting on him to try again.

Try to call as soon as they open. there's hardly a 2 minute wait at that time. They open at 7am Eastern time.

Can someone give me an answer. once the NVC receives the AOS/IV packages, how long until one gets a scan date

Depends on how backlogged they are. If your courier tracking shows that it's delivered, then they have it in their building. It's a matter of when they actual scan your document cover sheet to let the system know they have it. It could be the very next day, it could be a few days after. You have to call them to find out. Once they say they have it and gives you the scan date, start counting 30-45 days from there for case complete (and pray for no checklist--which adds another 30-45 days from when they receive the document you sent them for the checklist).

***Not everyone gets an acknowledgement email from NVC stating they received your documents on xx-xx-xxxx date. Remember NVC is consistent about being inconsistent. :)

I'm in HR and I will tell you when I'm looking at resumes and see a foreign address, I don't bother looking much further into it. In my experience, it usually means that person is not here and available to start when we need or require visa sponsorship which is a pain and very expensive for the company. Applicants with foreign addresses usually need about a month to move (at minimum) and get started. my thoughts to you is to start applying for jobs when you are closer to moving back to the US and update your resume with a local address and phone.

Closer to moving is there a way to rent an apartment from abroad? Would it be better to move ahead when we get the case complete to the States. So the only thing my husband waits for is the interview?

If I get an apartment before we move what do I do about a phone number on the CV. How would they contact me?

The problem is that we have two little girls (USC as well) and moving with them would not work since I would be on my own. Leaving them with my husband for little over two months would be toooo hard.

I just use a Skype # to call. Unlimited world calling isn't too bad of a monthly rate if you have decent Internet abroad. I think we pay a couple dollars (US) a month for unlimited Canada/US, and the world calling is maybe $12 or so.

The only other thing is don't list your address on the resume and just provide an email address that you can be reached. Perhaps include a cover letter stating you are overseas and planning to move back by July (or whenever you are planning to be back). It's hard to tell you to start looking or applying because your husband doesn't have visa in hand yet. Can't really fully plan for everything until you get that. What I can say is put your feelers out there and start applying when you are closer to actually coming back to the US.

Unfortunately, I can't answer your other questions because you have to do what's best for your family.

Maybe there are others on this forum that have or are going through the same as you that might be able to chime in and advise better.

Did you send your AOS and IV documents in one package or did you send it in separately? Even if you sent your documents in one FedEx (whatever courier service you used) package, was it in two separate folders? I'm just thinking out loud as to why you would've gotten this second date.

I sent them in one package together. Only thing I can think is that one didn't reach the correct department the same time. But he has asked if they had both packages in April. Yeah it sucks thanks. I know you understand the frustration because they gave you hell as well.

You should call and see if you can get anyone to answer what this second scan date was for because you confirmed with them about the first one and you didn't send anything in after that.

It is unfortunate and just plain sucks that we have to suffer the wait for their mistake. ..... Yes, I know it far to well and can empathize with you.
