Question about the I864: Part 5 Sponsor's Household size not sure if I did it correctly. We are using a joint sponsor so she will be filling one out as well. The other questions is do I still have to do part 5 since I am the petitioner for my husband.

Also on part 5 the total number comes to 5 but there is only 4 of us.

#1 Persons you are sponsoring in this affidavit automatically shows 1

#2 Yourself (me) 1

#3 If you are currently married enter 1 for your spouse. (But he is the beneficiary) I put 1

# 4 If you have dependent children, enter the number here. (Do I include our children here since they are US citizens. 2

#5-7 0

Total shows 5

What am I doing wrong?

Put 0 in for #3. You see where it says that pertains to people NOT sponsored on this affidavit, and not to count the same person twice? Your spouse IS being sponsored on the affidavit, so #3 is 0 because he was already counted in #1 and he's the one being sponsored.

#1 = 1 (beneficiary)

All below are NOT being sponsored on the affidavit

#2 = 1

#3 = 0

#4 = 2 (you're not sponsoring them)

etc.

The numbers will be different on your joint sponsor's I-864, depending on whether they have a spouse and children. In that case, your beneficiary will be 1 for #1, the joint sponsor will be 1 for #2, if they have a spouse, they will be 1 for #3, if they have children, #4 will be number of their children, etc.

I hope that makes sense!

Yes it does. Thank you so much.

Since I am my income from Bosnia does not count should I put $0 on part 6. Our joint sponsor will fill out her income section.

You already counted spouse in #1.

Your joint sponsor if married would pit 1 for #3.

You can work on your resume now and start searching online to see what kind of jobs are available in the field you are interested in and in the area where you will be living. You can start applying to jobs once you have your visa in your hand.

I hope it's just a matter of them not processing your documents yet but have you called them to make sure there is not a checklist issued? I don't want to discourage you, but I always called on day 30 or 31 and found I had a checklist issued and that's why I didn't see the 3 N/A's. I hope that's not the case for you.

LinJoe I am a US citizen and have a degree from US. I live abroad with my husband and our kids. But I am not sure I do not want to move till we have his visa. I am not sure how the employer will look at my CV if there is a forein address on it!

I'm in HR and I will tell you when I'm looking at resumes and see a foreign address, I don't bother looking much further into it. In my experience, it usually means that person is not here and available to start when we need or require visa sponsorship which is a pain and very expensive for the company. Applicants with foreign addresses usually need about a month to move (at minimum) and get started. my thoughts to you is to start applying for jobs when you are closer to moving back to the US and update your resume with a local address and phone.

I got a scan date of the day after mine were submitted, but mine were done via electronic processing.

I received the email with the scan date one calendar week after they were submitted.
