How to dress for an interview at Montreal Consulate?

Hi everyone!

I know some people recommend to dress as you would dress for a job interview and such. The only thing is this is not my style AT ALL :dead: .
I am a casual person.... So, should I wear something professional which does not represent me or should I dress like I usually do and be myself. I do not mean to wear dirty clothes and such.

Usually I dress with geeky clothes and colourful ones :energy: . Plus, my interview will take place on the 4th of May and as a geek, I wanted to wear my R2D2 dress as it is going to be Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you!!! :D ).

I just want honest opinion of people who went through Montreal for their interview and what they experienced and saw there.

Thank you in advance! :)

Btw, this is the dress I am talking about :

When I went everyone was dressed business casual. I understand wanting to dress like yourself, but it's something that will effect the rest of your life. Personally, I wouldn't wear it, I'd just get changed after the interview. You'll be in and out pretty quickly.

I've heard of people attending in flip flops. I don't think that they're judging your attire

Thank you!

The thing is I feel like lying to the immigration officer by showing in clothes Id have purchased just to attend the interview, and hiding who I really am...

Maybe I am digging too far... I dont even know!

Sounds good to me I wore jeans boots and a cardigan mind you it was winter so I was also wearing a coat :) I think as long as you look clean and tidy it's fine. Someone posted awhile back that they saw another person at the Montreal interview wearing sweat pants with a poop stain on the butt ?? so I'm sure your fine ✅

I wore nice jeans, and a T shirt with a nicer hoodie (it's black and fits snug - definitely not baggy) and did my make up. It really is nice casual and you see people from suits to just sweaters or hoodies there. I went as me.

+1 to this - You are not passing your interview on the way you're dressed. However, use common sense. No rips, no cleavage, cover-up. The interviewer is going to have an impression of you before you open your mouth so why not make it neutral? It's not an interview for Hot Topic so don't show-up dressed like Harley Quinn. :D

Again, the above is my opinion only..... but to be clear - the US Embassy doesn't really give a rats a$$ that you'd like to dress so you feel like yourself or That its Star Wars day. It's a business, grown-up situation and you want to come across as respectful.

I've heard of people attending in flip flops. I don't think that they're judging your attire

And I do not intend to be disrespectful, I do not think my outfit will offense anyone there.

I work in an office everyday, and still show my true colors. Grown-up but young at heart! heehee
