Habitat

Bobcats are found in almost all types of habitat -- except metropolitan areas -- especially in mountains and even in desert areas where water is available. In fact it ranges through all four deserts of the American Southwest, but favors rocky, brushy hillsides on which to live and hunt.

Habits

Despite its pussycat appearance when seen in repose, the Bobcat is quite fierce and is equipped to kill animals as large as deer. When living near a ranch, it may take lambs, poultry and even young pigs. However, food habit studies have shown Bobcats subsist on a diet of rabbits, ground squirrels, mice, pocket gophers and wood rats. Quail have been found in bobcat stomachs, but predation by bobcats does not harm healthy game populations.

sigh. bummer.

this doesnt make sense. why would i see one on one of the worst weather days of the year???? shouldnt they be in a cave or something.

it's lost.

and quite possibly scared!

When I was in Juneau, Alaska, a moose showed up, puzzling everyone because there no are moose in or around Juneau, and the thing would have had to either swim there or climbed some pretty high mountains. They put a photo of the critter on the front page of the local paper and asked everyone not to shoot it, but it disappeared as it came. No one ever knew how.

In Denver, during the horrendous snows this year, I often came out of buildings to find the very uncommon sight of wild deer standing around my car and peering into office buildings in heavily populated areas away from open plain. They were'n't even frightened by people, they were so hungry. Maybe your lynx was just looking for food in new territory.
