Hi

I am planning to bring my fiancee from Turkey. I have met on December 2015. I plane tickets etc. However I do not have any photos. I have spoke with the lawyer and he said I need an affidavits from friends and family members. Is it going to be fine?

lawyer is asking $1995 which is too high for me.

The requirement is one meeting, but more are preferential. Pictures are secondary evidence, passport stamps and boarding passes are primary.

Most people do not need a lawyer. Read the guides instead :-)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

A passport stamp shows you went to the country, not that you met. You need more than just boarding passes. It's the combination of the items that proves you've met once in the last two years.

In this day and age of camera phones and selfies,, how can you not of taken any photos of the two of you??

Think of this journey as if you are on trial and trying to prove that you committed the crime in question. First, did you meet within the last two years. An itinerary shows you planned to travel to that location. A boarding pass shows you were on the airplane. A passport stamp shows you were in that country. Receipts shows where in that country you were and when. Is it enough if your fiancée lives in that country and that city? Maybe. A photo of the two of you together shows that your did actually meet. Photos of each of you in the same city at the same time does show you two in the same location, but did you actually meet? You need to have evidence that shows beyond a reasonable doubt that you did in fat meet. Now the USCIS is a bit more lenient than a court of law, so just showing that the two of you were in the same city at the same time is usually enough. Sworn statements might help, but they are as good as the paper they are on--anybody can swear to anything.

Dave.

ive seen some not have pictures but usually they make a small note or letter explaining why there wasnt any pictures , but its 2016 it looks odd trying to prove a genuine relationship without at least one picture , the evidence within your petition should tell a story , CO maybe confused why there is no pics

you dont even have one selfie, just a single one? Me and my husband dont like to take photos in public cause we, well actually he, feels weird posing for them, plus we arent much photogenic, its very rare only the two of us in a picture taken by a third party, or even a selfie in a crowded area, but we have group pics with friends, family etc and loaaddss of selfies from our alone and 'just us' times. do you have any such group photos or pics of you two in separates photos with the same people same spot same time? at least that could show you both were at the same place same time with the same people, just never got around to snap a pic with the two of you in it.

anyway, do you plan on visiting again soon? and what other evidence do you have? if you plan on going back again, say for the upcoming holiday, i would say get the package ready as you wait your travel date, but postpone the submission until you go and come back with photos of you two and possibly and preferably her with your fam and you with her fam etc..

and screw the lawyer, k1 is very straight forward, you do not need a lawyer for it. save your money and take that trip to turkey with it which will help you tons.

My husband hates pictures to the fact that I ask to take his photos and he never takes one of me unless I request him to do so and there's a compelling reason. So we have 2 photos together in the last 3 years.

Not everyone likes photos, even with a group or alone.

However in this case, with a K1, you have to suck up what you may or may not like and get it done so you can move on with your life.

$1995 for a lawyer? That is more than enough to fly to Turkey again, meet him, take lots of pictures together and it will look good on the petition as well. You might even come back with some extra change to pay for the process and do it yourself...You don't need an ambulance chasers for sure.

1995 is a lot for a lawyer if you don't have any special circumstances that they need to help with. Following everything in the guide should be fine. You could fly over to see him take a few pictures and fly back with the money saved by not using a lawyer.
