I am filling out the N-400 paperwork today and was wondering:

1. Do I have to worry about putting the N/A in blank spaces? I remember this was an issue with some of the previous forms we did. Should I just leave everything blank that is not applicable?

2. We are filing under the 3 year route. However, the application asks if she's left the country in the last 5 years, jobs for the last 5 years, etc. Should we just assume they mean 'has she left the country since she's been a Permanent Resident?' 'where has she worked in the last 3 years?' etc.

3. Can we get standard passport photographs from a Walgreens and use those? Staring straight ahead?

Thanks!

HI!

1. N/A should be there where its applicable ,so you should put them over there.

2. I put jobs for the past 5 years as they've asked. I used the word pre-immigration work experience: and put the jobs i used to work before the 3,5 years before in my home country too to addition to the U.s jobs.Seems it worked fine.

3. Yes ,photos should be staring straight ahead .Done wear any earrings or jewerly.

I;ve sent mine on the blue background by mistake which is not suppose to be,it should be the white background pictures ,but anyways seems like the blue background worked fine too .

Best wishes. (F)

Thanks for the responses on the other questions.

I have another question:

I am gathering the documents and saw that they wanted tax returns, mortgage statements, etc. Can I just send copies of our last three years tax returns? Or should I order the tax transcripts they talk about?

Everything else seems pretty straight forward: birth certificate, passport copy, marriage cert., etc. Or am I missing something?

Thanks again!

HI!

We've mailed the copies of the tax returns for the past 3 years .

I am not sure what do you mean by tax transcripts? What is it?

Anyways, seems the copies of the 3 year tax returns are fine.

Thank you.

I have yet another question (sorry):

We were going to send the N-400 this week. However, we are going to Poland for 2 weeks in May. I'm worried that wee might miss part of the process if we are out of town. Any idea if we should worry about this? How soon is the fingerprinting done after we send the app?

Thanks!

Hi!

Well as ive mentioned above i;ve received my fingerprint appointment letter in a 2 weeks after filing the N-400 and the appointment date was scheduled in a week after the letter arrival. I don;t know if you should go or not,but if i were you i woudl wait for the fingerprints letter first its hsould arrive in April i guess or even before then in March.Usually how fast you gonna receive the letter depends on your Service center too,but seems the INS is working pretty fast right now everywhere,i hope...

Best wishes.
