Call the school board. Make lots of noise. Call the newspaper, do the same.

So you make lots of noise and he moves to a different neighborhood or town.

Then what? Problem solved - it's someone else's children now?

No, the "noise" is to inform them of what's going on. They (the board) might be able to do more than the average parent in this type of situation. The DOE can be informed if necessary and each individual BOE can be informed as to this person's background. I wouldn't want ANYONE'S child exposed to this sort of person.

I know the NYTimes has done some stories recently on how useless those facilities where sex offenders go after prison are, but what else is there. You can't punish them for who they are for the rest of their lives. It's inhumane. They're sick bastards, no question, but it's not really a choice for them, and if I understand it, most of them are sexually compulsive.

We can't take chances with kids, but spending the money to keep sex offenders locked up seems like a good idea to me.

I don't understand the perspective that Americans overreact to pedophilia. How can you overreact to that? I think it's natural to want to protect your children from psychological trauma.

The (BOOK) wont stop anyone but will inform others to be aware, hopefully his own daughter is safe. He might go for awhile toeing the line making everything look ok but in time lure by means of his own daughter having friends over. THeres been cases where they have hidden cameras to film these (friends) when they are over for sleepovers etc. The cases of not knowing and finding by surprise a person is like this is bad enough come on people are you going to place your own children in that position and yes i have known of a few cases 2 were the fathers and one was a kidnapping years ago and my friends daughter was never found. They did find a guy who had just done the same thing except one of the girls escaped to tell and this guy was caught, suspected of being the same one but he would never talk.

1) They will reoffend. No such thing as rehabilitation. Don't ask me how I know. :crying:

2) The reason for registering is so the people who DONT know will find out.

3) Definitely make a stink.

4) ####### is he doing at the school that often? Where the fark is the mother???????

Oh this makes me so freakin' mad I could spit.

The big deal is that once a child is molested it affects EVERY aspect of their life. Intimacy is now extremely difficult, self-inflicted abuse is common because the person shames themselves for what happened. I could go on. I was raped at age 8 and still to this day am fkd up over it. Doesn't effect me every day. Just every other day, in different aspects of my life.

No, they should not be let out, unless their balls are chopped off first.

Yes, but ultimately, what's the solution? These people have to live somewhere,

and there will always be kids and schools around them, no matter where they are.

The best you can do is keep a watchful eye on your kids and keep your fingers crossed.

Sorry Mark, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I am VERY protective of my daughter. Anyone with children is the same way, or I hope to god they are. I can't keep a watchful eye on my daughter when she's in school. I don't teach in her school. Most parents can't watch over their children either when they're in school. This is where I feel the school is falling down on their job so to speak. It's MY job to watch over the kids in MY school. If a known sex offender starts hanging around the school you better believe I'm going to make some noise. I would hope that the teachers in my daughter's school would do the same damn thing!

I wish I KNEW what the solution is. These people do NOT deserve to be around innocent children. Yes, I know they have to live somewhere and quite frankly, I haven't a clue where that would be. Would you want a known sex offender hanging out at your child's school? Living in your backyard (metaphorically speaking of course)? Maybe the US should create a new state....Sex Offender State. Hell, I don't know. All I know is this makes me friggin upset to think they can just walk in a school and be around children.

How did you know he was a convicted child molester if you didn't know his name?

My co-worker had his little girls mother living with her for a while. Once this guy was released from prison he was staying at her home with her roommate and his daughter. She kicked them out because she didn't want anything to do with that. I'm going to find out this guys name Monday when I'm back at work.

Get the guy's name and look him up before you ruin his life based on potentially suspect thirdhand information. I believe you're honest, and I believe you have good intentions, but the laws in your area are pretty clear, and I'm finding it hard to believe that the cops know this guy has molested three kids and are fine with him visiting at school. Even if there aren't registry laws that cover child molestation, there's usually restrictions on being around schools.

Something in this story isn't adding up at all.

In the meantime, if you and the other parents are concerned, can one of you go up to school to eat lunch with your kids?

If we really believe that they can never stop, don't we have a responsibility to lock them up forever?

It's really the only thing that makes sense, wouldn't it?

If a parent believed that a sex offender couldn't be rehabilitated, why on earth would they feel safer if they knew his name was on a list? What useful purpose does the information serve? It's not like your advice to your kids is going to be "Take candy from strangers unless it's Mr. Wilson because he served time 10 years ago." You're going to keep an eye on them and be cautious either way.

Yes, IMO, but also to make that as comfortable as possible (within reason) for the rest of their lives, just as soon as they have paid their debt to society. Lock them up in their own facilities, as they are doing now in some areas.

If you dont see the importance in this issue and you dont have children, maybe you shouldnt, also its not always children they look for. Would you feel any better if your next door neighbor had been to prision for this and you wife is home alone during the day or night??

Exactly.

PS I also think it depends on the crime. Let's not lock up a 20 year old that had sex with a 17 year old who was his girlfriend for the rest of his life.
