Maybe I'll feel differently after I have kids. But I just don't understand - the guy did his time. Perhaps we need to send all convicted sex offenders to a desert island after their release or else give them all life sentences.

see.....that's exactly what I thought, but everyone I spoke with today tells me there are new laws out now and not everyone has to register. Tell you what....I find out his name....I'll register his a$$!

i know missouri laws and you are int he right on this..if he is a sex offender, he has to stay and not visit or live near a school...missouri is strict on this...contact the school board too..and the supertindent of schools..s

sister, i worked with them in the prison system, even on a research project..

the highest...of all repeat offenses..at that time 84%..and that was with daily counseling for 1 year...

there is a treatment used by carnes, the red flag approach that has some success..but most will reoffend ...

You will feel differently when you have kids, i work with rap sheets allllll day long, any idea how many serve their time only within a few years do the same thing. You wont chance your children for anything.

How did you know he was a convicted child molester if you didn't know his name?

My co-worker had his little girls mother living with her for a while. Once this guy was released from prison he was staying at her home with her roommate and his daughter. She kicked them out because she didn't want anything to do with that. I'm going to find out this guys name Monday when I'm back at work.

Seriously Jenn....if I could cut off my uncles balls and shove them down his throat....I'd do it. I consider myself a pretty well balanced person,but there are always days that I'll be in a funk and the only thing I can think about is what my uncle did to me. I even have bad nightmare on occasion. I don't dwell on what happened....I think I've got over it, but this little thing in the back of my mind always brings it up once in a while and I'll never forgot it.

he's a sex offender, would you really feel safer if his name was listed in some book?

Here's the situation: A child in my daughters kindergarten class, her father was just released from prison approx a month ago for 3 convictions of child molestation. I'll add that the children he molested were two 8 year old girls and a 9 year old boy. He served 8 years. Now this guy goes to the school everyday, has lunch with his daughter, is going on field trips and is always around the school. I was under the impression that a convicted sex offender could not be so many feet from a school so I called the authorities here and asked many questions. They tell me that he DOES NOT have to register as a sex offender (depending on what the crime was) and that yes, some sex offenders are allowed to go to the schools when they have children there. The other parents and I are in an outrage. What gives??? I thought all these laws being made are to protect our children....not to put them right in arms way of a sex offender. At any rate....the other mothers and I are not done protesting. Don't know what we have to do exactly, but we're going to make sure he stays away from our kids.

Call the school board. Make lots of noise. Call the newspaper, do the same. The authorities you spoke to gave you wrong information. It would make me as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs to have a sex offender in the school every frickin day.

You will definately feel different when you have children. Yes, he did his time. However most child molesters WILL re-offend. Here in White County (where we live) sex offenders have to register and they are NOT allowed to live within a certain number of feet from schools or daycares. Regardless of how much time they actually serve, they carry with them the stigma of what they did for the rest of their life...a life sentence of sorts. But, they chose to do this. It's hard for me to feel sorry for people like that. If that makes me a hard person, so be it.

I think you really need his name before you contact the school board. I'd hate for you to have been given the wrong information and he's NOT a sex offender.

My personal opinion is these people don't deserve a second chance, a leopard doesn't change it's spots and I personally wouldn't like to take the chance with my kids. They should pay for the rest of their lives for being sick bastards.
