They may not have been physical terrorists, but they're most certainly emotional ones.

What does that mean?

Doing all these things for the pursuit of this lawsuit all the while knowing they were creating fear in all of their co-passengers. Really quite bullsh!tastical

And they were likely intending to discourage through intimidation future passengers from reporting suspicious behaviour.

damned if they do, damned if they don't. now that we have concluded they aren't terrorists -we're claiming they went through this entire excercise for the sake of a lawsuit?

hahaha.

ok - riddle me this - if they had intentionally planned to do this for the sake of a lawsuit - what garauntees, in this day and age - are there that they would even be accorded a lawsuit? chances are they could have seen themselves on a one way road to gitmo. don't you think that it is quite an extreme measure to go to such lengths for a lawsuit?

did it ever occur to anyone that it MAY have been a case of fear induced paranoia? that they simply jumped to conclusions based on the fact that they were praying, and there were a few of them?

and - for a second - let's just say that they DID pray. that they DID dicuss politics that opposed the current policies of the gov't. and that they DID ask for seat extensions. since when did any one of these things become against the law? since when did doing any of the above become grounds for denying service aboard an aircraft? since when did doing any one of these things become a justification for publicly humiliating people?

cuz if that is what we have been reduced to - let me tell you something - osama won the battle and we may as well resign in our 'war on terror'

pwned

have to agree there.. due to the circumstances, and complete fear on anything that looks 'muslim-terrorist-arab' (OMG THEy is praying in arab they are teh ebil terroriztz).. probly some of the facts are exaggerated.. maybe discussing politics is not a good advice for anyone in an airport, not only arab-looking people.... but, probly they were praying as u say, and someone was like OMG! they're gonna blow the airport!!

Yeah cos this is normal behavior:

spoke angrily about the United States and Saddam, switched seats and sat in the 9/11 hijackers' configuration, and unnecessarily requested seatbelt extenders

You're assuming a lot...that it was all so nice and lovely 'oh please may I have a seat change?' there's NO reason for that on a plane, much less deliberately sit in the hijackers' positions. Much less request seat belt extenders for no good reason.

riddle me THAT....sheesh!

and fyi, if that was my azz on the plane, I'd worry too. It's time we stop worrying about offending people and time we are honest enough to say 'that don't smell right.'

ur right there... but.. is praying loudly a justification to worry, just cuz they are praying in arabic? or are you talkin about the whole show they decided to mount on the plane..

It's not just praying in Arabic on its own...its the whole show they made. Behavior which serves no other purpose than to terrorize people.

If it was a stunt, that's perhaps questionable, but calling it "terrorism" is a bit of a stretch. It's a lot closer to civil disobedience, or a sting operation where a young-looking person goes and buys cigarettes to prove the pharmacy doesn't card.

Didn't terrorism used to involve actual terror, and not just playing to people's emotional panic attacks? It's not worrying about not offending people, it's about not overreacting and labelling every goddamn thing an act of terrorism. I'm sorry, praying in an airport -- even if you do it intentionally to make a point -- is a gigantically different thing than having a plot to hijack a plane or actually having a bomb.
