So on the CEAC website it still says "READY". ? ? ? ? I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones to get in within a few business days so that I could be home with my wife in time for my birthday. Though I am truly very grateful for the approval with no hiccups apart from the current wait, I just wish I knew exactly how close the immigrant visa is to being ready. I wanna book the ticket and be with my wife already ?. Also would like to know for those who collected their DHL package or those who have knowledge of the process, in the package you receive does it come with instructions on how to make the $165 green card payment online? Or did you receive it at the interview because I did not get any paper just the one about my rights in the United States.

Awww my friend...don't work yourself into a frenzy...All will be well. Patience grasshopper.

The instructions for the fee in which you are inquirying about can be found posted as the very first post of this thread. Don't believe that you can pay it just yet because you need the passport in hand..check that out and see if that information is what you are looking for.

FYI...the last person that I spoke with that has gobe through this process status didn't change for 6 to 7 days. Use that as your high watermark but know that it could take a little longer.

Thank you my friend. I worry easy and I know it's not healthy.I remember the link. I just needed to be certain that I didn't leave anything during the interview or if the CO forgot to give me. He was really nice btw.

Our CO didn't give us any instructions on the Immigrant Fee either. Nor did he give my partner anything about the VAWA. Hm. Maybe in Australia, they figure you just have to know it already!

Hi guys,

I submitted my DS-260 online just before I realized that my request for consulate change was not yet processed. I am still waiting to here from the NVC about the change. Do you think I will need to resubmit another DS-260 since the old one has the old case number (old consulate letters).

Has anyone been in such situation? How long it takes to process consulatechange requests?

Thank you.

Hi Saved,

I think you have lots of time. We applied for a consulate change via e-mail after case complete, and it was approved three days later. I called the NVC before requesting the change and they said that as long as an interview hadn't been scheduled, the package hadn't been sent to the consulate, and it was still easy to change.

We had previously thought about changing the consulate, and they said it could take up to 30 days to respond to our e-mail. I would maybe call them every 2 weeks or so, and check on the status?

I know...come to know you a little bit here. You are really going to stress and worry yourself back to Andrews but this time in an inpatient status. IF there is anything that wasn't obtained during the course of the interview...you have it all on hand and it will be a quick turn around to get it back to them...but I believe that you are good. Remember this process is more a test of patience than anything. By this time next week you will be posting your ticket has been purchased and you are scheduled to leave in a matter of days.

*Remember my husband's remedy for everything...just have a cup of warm tea and concentrate on what you are going to put in that suitcase of yours. DONT 4GET THE PARKA!

Blessing to you and the wife!

I guess "educate or provide assistance..." was not a bullet in the job description.

Yes. I may need to drink some garlic tea to help wid my pressure. God willing I would be glad if they call me to collect it next week and I get to book the

ticket. I would probably run around the neighborhood like a mad man screaming "I'm finally going home to my wife" haha

Thank you Sukie. Now I feel a bit more relaxed. I would probably have gone half crazy without the support and love from my family and everyone on VJ who have taken time to help strangers from different parts of the world. This site is truly amazing.

As long as you stay clothed...I think you might be okay and your neighbors would be excited for you too...

Thank you so much Jennifer for your reply. We're you issued a new case number after the change? I am a bit worried because the DS-260 and the cover letter both have the old case number. Hope that doesn't make any conflicts with the NVC since they toooo slow to fix issues!!

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you so much for your reply. Did you get a new case number issued after the change? I am a bit worried because both the DS-260 bar code and the cover letter still reflect the old case number. would that be a source of confusion for the NVC? they are tooo slow to fix issues!!

When did you apply for your case change? I applied a week ago, and I received a notice saying that it will take 30 days! I hope it wont take that long!

I am also applying for MTL as my new consulate which accept electronic processing, but my old consulate do not. I am currently waiting on the document submission until I get the approval of the change request so that I can submit electronically. Is that right? or should I submit by mail and save some time?

Thank you again!

hello everyone

i received my visa today .. alhamdullah

i have question they wrot on my visa ( upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing residence for 1 year )

what this mean ?

"upon endorsement" means when you get your immigration stamp in your passport at POE

"serves as temporary I-551" means that your visa + immigration stamp are the equivalent of a green card

"evidencing residence for 1 year" means that you are considered a Legal Permanent Resident for one year after you enter the US

Of course, you will subsequently receive an actual "Green Card" which will be a 2-year card if you are a CR-1 holder or a 10-year card if you are an IR-1 holder.
