I dont have any medical record or anything which said that i had a vaccin i lost everything !! What i have to do ? And what the doctor will do ??

You can do a blood test to determine if you've got immunity to certain diseases like measles, varicella and mumps. Talk to your doctor. I've had a test done for varicella to check if I need the vaccination.

Thank you for the information I will read on. Will just be open minded about it. Yes your husband may have a huge bill indeed. Did he check his local clinic to see if they have his records. Maybe he can request it and can also get some of what is missing before the actual medical. Thank you once again.

Hi Bzegurl - I don't have kids but i do know that the Meningitis (Meningococcal) shot is a required vaccine for schools here in the US. I don't know how old your kids are but I think you have to be a certain age to get it.

I felt bad for you so decided to look it up for the state of Maryland and found this for you.

http://phpa.dhmh.maryland.gov/OIDEOR/IMMUN/Shared%20Documents/Min_Vacc_Req%2015_16_FINAL.pdf

Here's a page that may help for the different school levels and even for the next school year. http://phpa.dhmh.maryland.gov/OIDEOR/IMMUN/Pages/back-to-school-immunization-requirements.aspx

Unfortunately, the kids do have to get all the shots as required by immigration for the U.S by a US Immigration approved panel physician. The list of all required vaccinations for the US can be found on the FAQ's page of the Dept of State Website:

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare/medical-exam-faqs.html

I know all of this adds up and takes a dent on the wallet. I'm not looking forward to seeing/hearing how much it's going to cost my husband for his vaccinations.....he doesn't have any medical records to take with him and he doesn't remember what he's had already. he may have a very expensive bill at the end of it all. :(

I wish you the best!

Do you mind if I ask the age of your kid(s)? That vaccine is recommended for kids aged 11-12yrs old.

Yes they are 12 13 and 16. When you go for yours please let me know if you had to get it. Tks

Since I see you talking about vaccines, I have just booked an appointment with my doctor, so I can get and review my vaccination record!

I'll book my medical tomorrow for the interview as well ;-)

Feels good when you see things move ahead and you can keep walking your path.

I know how it feels when you're waiting, so I'm sending my best vibrations to the ones that are still pending on decisions that are taken by others. I have you in my prayers y'all!

If you have no medical records/immunization card to take to the medical assessment, then you will most likely be given all the required vaccines for your age group. This will cost you additional monies as the vaccines are billed separately from the actual medical examination.

You have the right to question the cost of the vaccines prior to them actually being given to you (you don't want to have them given and you don't have the monies to pay!) You have the option of getting the said vaccines at your local health centre (hopefully for free) once they are available there, rather than paying a high cost for them at the medical examination but you must return the results/records to the panel physician so that they can complete the medical for you to take to your embassy interview.

You can refer to Post #59 on this forum with the list of vaccines that must be administered.

My kids are 8 and 6 so I doubt they will have to get the meningococcal vaccine. They are pretty up-to-date with all the vaccines for their age, as well. I know they will have to do a PPD skin test (to test for TB) which requires us to return after 48-72 hrs to see any reaction on the skin. This has to be done at an external facility and not at the panel physician's office but we'll be given a letter of referral for it to be done.

Congratulations!!

Have you scheduled your medical exam yet? If not I'd do that as soon as possible. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents for the interview. Check out the info on the NVC website and make sure you also have a look for specific interview guidelines for your embassy. They can also be found on the website.

Congratulations. I have updated you.

Best way to prep is look in guide for possible questions. Read the Interview Reviews fr your embassy. And just relax and get whatever evidence you want to get together. If you didn't send 2015 taxes to NVC have it at interview.
