Interview on the 10th of may went smooth, got approved.

Congratulations!!

My husband interviewed in Montreal on May 9th. His interview was about 4 minutes long and he was immediately approved. Yay!

We showed up around 8am for an 8:30am interview. We met with one agent for about 10 minutes to give him our original documents, which he organized. Then we got called by the office for the interview, which my husband did by himself. I waited in the waiting room. The officer asked if either of us had been married before, and how we met, and whether he had ever been in trouble with the law. He then told my husband that his case was the easiest one all morning, and gave him the Welcome To America brochure.

So happy - thanks for the help from everyone! I guess I'll be moving over to following the "after the interview" type of threads now. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting!

Congratulations!! It's comforting to know you didn't have to make the CO break a sweat lol ;)

Had our interview today at the London embassy.... My husband had an interview with a person who was very difficult to understand due to her accent (she was Chinese). He thought she said approved, but apparently said refused :( because she handed him back his passport and a colored slip that said "your visa application has been refused under section 221G of the immigration.... you may be able to overcome the 221G pending: submission of additional evidence. This evidence is: Passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of entry into the U.S.

He said he tried to give her the passport back but she wouldn't explain why she wouldn't take it... his passport is valid until 2025. I'm so confused and upset about this. He lives far from London and didn't realize this mistake until he was on the train back home. He said she was very forceful and wouldn't let him ask questions, apparently he was rushed out of the embassy. It was raining outside so he didn't get a chance to look at the papers until he had gotten on the train. I don't understand how or why this happened. Obviously his passport was valid (it was the same passport we submitted to the NVC). I'm really upset that they didn't even hear him out or try to explain why they thought it was invalid. Has anyone heard about this happening before??? He said he thought she said approved because she had a big smile on her face. I'm pretty bummed about this :(

It's unfortunate what happened to your husband at his interview and I can see how he could misinterpret her saying "approved" when she really said "refused".....who smiles at you when they give you disappointing news??????? Absolute rubbish, if you ask me.... :protest:

On a side note.....if there is a way to re-submit the passport then do so. Also, I believe each consulate has a complaints section that deals with "unfair" or "biased" interviews (if you think that is what was done to your husband, that is!)

Good luck in whatever you two decide to do

If you have sent your entire documents to NVC and it has been over 30 days just give them a call and ask if there is an update to your case.

Before you get an interview date they usually inform you that you case is complete and that you are in queue for interview scheduling.

PS: Did you check your status in CEAC?

Hi Rosegrove,

Thank you for your response. The CEAC status says still "At NVC", but I have a lawyer, his advise is "just wait", so will it jeopardized anything if i directly call NVC?

Thanks!
