Had our interview today at the London embassy.... My husband had an interview with a person who was very difficult to understand due to her accent (she was Chinese). He thought she said approved, but apparently said refused :( because she handed him back his passport and a colored slip that said "your visa application has been refused under section 221G of the immigration.... you may be able to overcome the 221G pending: submission of additional evidence. This evidence is: Passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of entry into the U.S.

He said he tried to give her the passport back but she wouldn't explain why she wouldn't take it... his passport is valid until 2025. I'm so confused and upset about this. He lives far from London and didn't realize this mistake until he was on the train back home. He said she was very forceful and wouldn't let him ask questions, apparently he was rushed out of the embassy. It was raining outside so he didn't get a chance to look at the papers until he had gotten on the train. I don't understand how or why this happened. Obviously his passport was valid (it was the same passport we submitted to the NVC). I'm really upset that they didn't even hear him out or try to explain why they thought it was invalid. Has anyone heard about this happening before??? He said he thought she said approved because she had a big smile on her face. I'm pretty bummed about this :(

I have a concerning and confusing question about 2015 taxes. So when we submitted our I-864 that was before the current year (2015) taxes were due. The financial documents including I-864 was submitted on Jan 27th 2016. It included 2014, 2013 and 2012 taxes. My wife is going for the interview on May 19, 2016.

for the 2015 I didn't file taxes and just took an extension and will file jointly when my wife arrives to US. Do you guys think this can be a problem? or the Tax Extension paper I mailed her should be enough? and should I also send her a new I-864 with 2015 income information?

We did get a checklist from NVC about a missing 2014 W-2, which they said not to send to NVC but my wife should take to the interview to the consulate.

Thanks is advance for your replies :)

Interview date June 24th after a CC on May 4th! Whoo hoo! Can anyone tell me the specifics on trying to request an earlier date from the embassy? Things I have to wait for, etc.?

I recently went into the embassy and It was almost empty. I jokingly asked the women helping me if they ever get so busy, and she told me no. Maybe we can squeeze in a little earlier since we already completed our medical exam.

Congrats to everyone one else who have gotten their interviews scheduled, and good luck on this next step. To everyone else waiting, I do hope you hear back soon!

Hi Christyarrrr,

Congratulations on the CC and the interview date! I just tried a couple of days ago to get an earlier interview date and although our request got denied, I would say it's worth a try. I emailed our Embassy's immigrant visa inbox which I found on the Embassy's website and basically very politely told them that we have our medical exam scheduled for next week and both of us would be really grateful to have the opportunity to complete the interview ahead of the already scheduled date should the Embassy have any openings and allow this. We don't have any real reason like a health issue for an expedite other than wanting to be together already! They responded in less than 24 hours saying that unfortunately they are operating at capacity at this time and have no earlier openings. I honestly did not think that our Embassy was very busy because we got our interview scheduled relatively quickly after CC and at the beginning of the month, but what I realized later is that although they have certain dates and times where they hold interviews, they use that time for ALL interviews and only have a certain amount of slots for each visa category which explains why they may not have any earlier openings. Anyways, I'm glad I tried and who knows maybe they get a cancellation and let us know later that they can fit us in.

Good luck!

Hi Tommal,

Yes this is absolutely normal. My anxiety kicked in about 1 or 2 days before my husband's interview, but after interview you begin to think "what did I get so worked up for?" lol.

It's great that your husband will be there to offer support. All will be well, you got this

I look forward to reading about your approval :)

Thanks a lot JASM! You are and angel!!

Hi so sorry to hear. But I dont understand why didnt your hubby showed his passport to anybody else at the the embassy and asked "why this happened?" (I mean - if the Chinese lady's accent was that much difficult)

I think now it is better to send an emai to the embassy with a scanned passport copy and ask them what was wrong with the passport

Oh no so sorry to hear this. Maybe you can have this issue settled. Maybe it's just in Administrative processing and not a denial. Have your husband try contacting the embassy and let them know what happened. Try to get more information.

(

hi,

I am in the same situation, my husband is financial sponsor for my brother`s case (filed by my mother).

we have not filed 2015 taxes yet, sent IRS transcript of 2012,2013 and 14.

got checklist to get 2014 W-2.Instructed to take it to interview.

I think, that should not be a problem.

we are planning to send 2014 w-2.

proof of extension.

brand new 1-864(just in case, they want new with ,new signature and dates)
