I think back to when you and LinJoe emailed me with a question back in February and now look at you about to join your wife and LinJoe has an interview for her husband. We've all come a long way. I've got another question for all of you wonderful people.

I've been going through the forums her and elsewhere to find out the best procedure to follow for booking hubby's flight. The answers are all over the place!

The most popular advice is to NOT BOOK until he has his visa in hand. However, that advice is mostly for people getting the fiance and other visa's. Hubby's interview is at the Consulate in South Africa where they process right there and it's for an IR-1/CR-1 Visa. Does this make a difference? Would it be safe to book a changeable ticket within a day or two of his interview?

Congratulations. You are updated.. Man that didn't take long.

Thanks dwheels! Seems like it was longer, but compared to others we seem to have been very blessed. I sincerely feel the pain of everyone who has to wait and wait and problems come up and wait some more. It really is the not knowing anything definitive that drives the anger, depression and madness.

I do have to comment that I was always nervous about calling NVC to try and get any information. While the NVC people were WAY easier to deal with than the USCIS people, I still never had a really bad experience with either. Regardless of what type of mood the operator was in I forced myself to smile, be overly pleasant and not spew my stress/anger/pain/loneliness through the phone like a fire hose. I believe that helped to make a difference. I don't know if they all make notes on our case file but having worked in call centers for many years, every single little thing is noted somewhere. Most operators I spoke to during this process were genuinely pleased that I wished them a wonderful day/evening/weekend.

(I probably should have posted that way back on the USCIS board. LOL)

Hey, does anybody have any experience with the wait time involved when requesting an expedite? They say that if you don't hear anything then assume your request was denied and attend as scheduled - but what is a reasonable timeframe (especially for London) to hear back?

Hi Simon,

We just sent an email last week to try our luck with expedite. We got approved.

The expedite only work in case of an urgent need.

However, you will receive and email from NVC if your expedite request has been rejected or granted. Do call them and check. Sometimes emails are as late as few weeks.

Just confirmed hubby's interview date! June 30th at 1pm his time. I had only called to find out if the South African embassy was still scheduling interviews for June (pressed 7) and Eve, a very pleasant woman, informed me that they had just scheduled his interview. She verified our email addresses to make sure we would get the notice. WOOOHOO!!!!!!!

Also, Congrats AND big thanks to dhweels and Lin, and everyone else who's anxiously waiting for that last step over the mountain!

Nothing is guaranteed. I have a friend just went through your embassy in February. And issuing and mistakes by embassy delayed them a month.

Changeable means you pay more to change. It's up to you whether you want to pay now or later. I aure wouldn't. You just never know.

Nigeria went from issuing visas in 7 days to 14 days.

03-16-2016 Emailed Checklist (dated 06 July 2015---prior to filing USCIS Petition—False Checklist in my opinion) for Birth Certified (was included with papers submitted 02/13/2016) Escalated to Supervisor because it was included in the IV paperwork (two separate folders for Petitioner & Beneficiary (Everything tabbed (Red for petitioner and Blue for Beneficiary), coversheet explaining everything in each folder) Called about the Checklist date which is prior to petition filed. Representative at NVC couldn’t explain.

03-17-2016 Mailed NADRA again (1st Class, Certified Return/Receipt)

03-21-2016 NADRA received and still being reviewed by a supervisor in the Review Dept.

03-22-2016 Received ASKNVC email to request on 03-17-2016 stating they are still waiting on civil documents (no specific mention of the Birth Certified like previously requested on 03-16-2016)

04-18-2016 Case Completed. See 3rd N/A on the U.S. Department of State Website. N/As (Affidavit of Support Fee, Affidavit of Support Documents & Financial Evidence & Civil Documents) Called and confirmed with NVC

(PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!!) Now waiting on being scheduled for Interview.

04-25-2016 Official Correspondence Letter ensuring Case Completed from NVC and informing us they will be scheduling the immigration appointment next.

05-09-2016 Called NVC 11:00 p.m. CST and received verbal notification Interview Scheduled June 24, 2016 @ 7:00 a.m.

*January 4 - DS-261 & Paid AOS(120$)

*January 29 - Paid IV(325$)

*February 10 - Sent AOS & IV Documents

*February 16 - SCAN DATE

*March 1 - CASO COMPLETED

*March 9 - Case Complete Email

*March 29 - Interview Sceduled

*April 1- Interview Letter(P4)

*April 19- Husbands Medical

*May 3 - Fingerprints Appointment

*May 10 - Interview Date

APPROVED!!!

*May 13- CEAC Issued

*May 17- Passport Ready for Pick Up

*May 18- Picked Up Passport && Packet
