Congratulations Hansona!! So happy for you:). Amadia, I'm really sorry to hear about AP, I know you feel lost at this point but try to focus on getting them what they need so they can quickly approve it for you. Praying super hard for you, it will turn around really quickly, you'll see. Hang in there, we're here for you.

Also, to the rest of the group, I have a quick questions. I had gotten feedback to fix a really minor error on my sponsor's I-864 form and was told to give my husband the corrected original form, which I already have done and he's prepared. Has anyone gone through something similar where they had to fix a really minor mistake on their form and bring it to the interview? If so, can you share any feedback as far as whether it was any kind of issue as long as the corrected form was brought?

Thanks everyone!

:( No worries though. The financial stuff shouldn't be too bad. The 1040 form they're asking for is his tax return. 1099 is the consultant/private contractor version of a W-2, not the tax return he'd submit to the IRS. Best thing to get would be his IRS tax transcripts. Otherwise it would be the tax returns AND his 1099s.

Edited to add: As for the letter from his employer, it doesn't have to be too detailed. Just needs to be on letterhead, signed by a company official (such as an HR person) and have his start date, whether he's still employed there, his job title, and his salary.

Hopefully you can get those things together quickly and be on your way soon!

Don't give up...its not a denial! Wrap your mind around it and then make a plan of attack! It will all work out in your favor! Trust and believe...

Oh no Amadia... Sorry to hear that! I was really hoping to hear good news from you too. :( ...Don't worry, you all will get through this fine. Remain positive and all will be well.

Thank you mjsweetie33!

Hey Amadia,

Sorry to hear about AP, but those docs should be fairly easy to obtain. You can still get a 1040 (the name of the form might be slightly different for private contractor, not too sure) using the 1099, so just as long as your father in law filed his taxes he should have a copy of the 1040 to send to you. Depending on the company, HR should be able to turn around a letter of employment to your husband within a few days. I requested one for our interview and it was ready the next day. Stay encouraged, you've encouraged a lot of people on here, you've come this far and it's almost over. Just an unexpected hurdle, but I'm praying that you'll have your approval soon.

Sorry for your AP Hon just hold on get what they need and you'll be good to go. I have joined the AP thread just came back to see your approval but in all goodness it's not denied so move forward Goodluck.

Thank you so very much to all of you who have poured out care and concern in my situation!! :)

I was freaking out as I had just left the embassy and posted about it here on VJ. However, I'm much better now since my husband was swift and emailed me the 1040 and the tax assessment they asked for. :D My only wait is for the job letter which shouldn't be scanned and emailed but must have a wet signature (I'm assuming!) but I wrote the embassy asking them if the original signed letter is definitely required. ;)

Anyways, overall...I had a great embassy experience and I'd like to share it with the VJers:

We arrived at 730am to beat the town traffic and had to wait until 830am. We were let inside by 840am and went to the counter where a young lady handed me a folder to place all the docs stated on a printed list that was stapled to the front of said folder. She took our passports and interview letters and told us to sit and prepare the folder while we await our names being called.

At 910am, I heard our names over the intercom and we went over to the Immigrant Visa section to Window 1 with a very pleasant lady who smiled often and made jokes with me and my kids. She sorted thru our paperwork, kept what they needed and returned the majority of documents. She corrected the figures on our i864s and said "don't worry about that, I fixed it for you so your household now says the correct thing". She indicated though, that it seemed I would required additional financial evidence since it did not show that my father-in-law was above the poverty line to support me and my kids but the CO would be more informative about that requirement once the interview takes place. She then told us to wait outside until we hear our names again.

At 1015am, I heard my name on the intercom and went to Window 2 where I was met with a very pleasant-faced and smiling CO. He only asked me:

1. How long are you married? - 1yr

2. How did you meet your husband? - In high school in 1997

3. When did you get back in touch after school? - We found each other on Facebook in 2009

4. What's the longest you have ever stayed in the US? - 1mth

5. Have you ever lived in any other countries besides Trinidad? - I wish! (then he laughed and said "you will now, right!")

That was the end of my interview! Simple, easy-going and my stomach wasn't in knots!

He then typed a bit on his computer, all the while chatting up my kids about their age and making jokes with my daughter who had lost a tooth last nite and my son who was too short to see above the counter lol! He made us feel very comfortable and at ease.

After he was done typing, he handed me 4 pieces of paper stapled together and explained that this was the end of the interview but they still require additional financial info from my father-in-law since his transcripts and 1099s were not balancing out and the figures seemed inconsistent. He then handed back the passports and said that they can't keep them bcuz of what is required so fulfill that and then resubmit the passports.

They asked for the following:

* Valid passport (all)

* Tax Assessment 2015 for my husband (all)
* Job letter from my husband (kids)
* US Tax Return (Form 1040) for my co-sponsor (all)
* W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for my co-sponsor (all)
My only issue is that my father-in-law is self employed and is a private contractor so he gets the 1099s but no W2s. I even emailed the embassy about it when I got home. So, all in all, once I provide all the above requirements, I can contact DHL to deliver it to the embassy. I have everything except the job letter which my husband is organizing to send out with next day delivery via FedEx.
So like you ALL said, it is just a delay and not a denial. God is good and this was not our time just yet! :)

Should I be concerned if the last time the case was touched was several weeks ago, like 5/11 and nothing since and we are creeping up on the interview date?

No need to worry....ours was touched April 27 when it rec'd by the embassy. Second update was last Thurs for interview today. :)

So, I thought I would post my experience today after calling NVC. I understand that it has been rather unclear how they schedule interviews and when. At first I thought his answer cleared it up for me but now I am still a little confused. Maybe I put too much thought into it.

Our case complete date "officially" is May 16th even though they told me verbally on the 13th it was complete. I received the email this morning, May 23rd, stating that the case is complete and we are in the queue for interview scheduling. Being the Makulit that I am, I decided to call anyway and see what the status says in the computer. The agent tells me the case was complete on the 16th, we are in the queue but that they have finished scheduling interview for the month of May. They will not resume scheduling until June 1st. My response was, "so you are saying I should not expect any further action until June 1st at the earliest ?" His answer was yes.

Now the part where I think too much: After hanging up I thought hmm... did he mean they are done making appointments which will take place in May or are they done taking any action in May that will result in a scheduled appointment sometime in June or July? I think because of the way I worded my question and his response that it must mean the latter. Which would explain why most of the case complete dates from the first half of the month result in scheduled appointments at the end of the following month and case complete dates after the 15th or so result in appointments scheduled for the first week of the month after that (in our case probably early July).

To add to the frustration with this ...when I look at USTravelDocs available appointments for Manila embassy there are over 150 open slots for June. I guess I will have to wait until we get the July date and try to move it up.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Wifey currently at the interview and i am stuck here with bad (Nervous) feeling so here is my question.

I am not sure if this is right place to post or not but what happens if you are missing a documents or an original during the interview? What happens and what steps need to take? How long is the damage if you missing an original at the interview?
