hi vj members! i am april from philippines , i am basically a newbie here . Me and my fiance is on the process of gathering all the necessary documents for the 129F packet, Just wondering whats best to write for the relationship letter. i read some said its better to keep it simple because they don't care how u feel they just wanna know if we met in person for about 2 years or sO . so now im confused. anyone can clear my mind about this?

I'm not quire sure how this term "relationship letter" came about. Nothing I've found states you must submit an relationship letter. It can be one simple sentence on when and where you met in person. The I-129f form gives you a few lines to write in your answer. However, if you feel you need more space you can attach a sheet of paper for that answer. Somehow, its since evolved into a relationship letter.

All that's necessary is the date and place of the in person meeting. If you feel better adding more info then you may do that.

Keeping it simple and factual is best. How you met, when/where you met in person ...

Not with the I-129F. Read the instructions for the I-129F on the USCIS website, you need to submit much more than the I-129F form. Also it may help to read the guide here on VJ

1. Payment as required by USCIS. Use a personal check so you can track the payment. Money Orders are also accepted. Read the Guide to Paying USCIS Immigration Fees. 2. Cover Letter (see example). Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-129F), a table of contents (list everything in the packet). If you need additional room to explain your case, attach a separate sheet (list the attachment on the cover sheet). Make sure to sign and date the cover sheet. 3. Form I-129F: Petition for Alien Fiance (see example) 4. Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page attachment regarding question '34.a' of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it. 5. Original statements (from both the US Citizen and foreign fiance) certifying an intent to marry within 90 days of entering the US on a valid K-1. (see example) 6. Proof of having met in past two years. (click here for examples) 7. G-325A filled out by the US Citizen with their information, signed and dated (see example). 8. One passport-type photo (see specification) of the US Citizen. Write the full name of the US citizen on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert US Citizen's Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a. 9. G-325A filled out by the foreign fiance with their information, signed and dated (see example). 10. One passport-type photo (see specification) of the foreign fiance. Write the full name of the foreign fiance on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of (insert foreign fiance name) ". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a. 11. Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship. 12. Copy of final Divorce Decree(s) or Certificate(s) for the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance if either has been previously married. If the previous marriage of the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance ended due to the death of their spouse then include a Copy of Death Certificate(s) documenting that fact. 13. Proof of Legal Name Change if either the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance is using a name other than that shown on the relevant documents. You must give USCIS copies of the legal documents that made the change, such as a marriage certificate, adoption decree or court order. 14. In regards to Section C Question 2, if applicable provide certified copies of all court and police records showing the charges and dispositions for any specified conviction(s) (in accordance with the IMBRA). See section 9 of the I-129f instructions for more information.

If you met online, it may be worthwhile to say which website you used and print the terms of service for the website. Other than that, keep the contents lean and factual. Make the requirements simple, organized, and easy to find for the reviewer.

Declaration of how you met - I only used the few lines that were on the I-129F. I don't see a reason for someone attaching a romantic letter. They really don't care how impressive your story is at this stage. They simply want to know how you met; particularly in person. I wrote something to the affect of "Met online in (insert year here), and have since traveled to Philippines to visit on (insert date) and again on (insert date)."

Had no problems at all. My advice is to keep it simple and state the facts.

May I add do not put your documents in protective sheet (sleeves) covers as they just get thrown away when your documents arrive and are scanned. That's the first step they do. They are scanned even before they reach the adjudicator so not necessary. Just use clips like the example here: http://dennyeyberg.wix.com/filipino-am-visa#!filing-the-petition/c30m scroll to the middle of the page for a picture. The others have given you great suggestions to follow.
