Hi everyone -- I was hoping to get a few sets of eyes to look over the evidence my husband and I have gathered. We are petitioning to remove the conditions on his green card, which expires July 7th.

We were married in April 2014, he got his green card in July 2014. From August 2014 - June 2015 we lived rent free at the boarding school I teach at, therefore we had no lease, no bills, no utilities, etc. as it was part of my benefits (I have a letter from Human Resources explaining this which you will see below)

Here is what we have:

  • Deed & Title of our home purchased June 2015 (both names)
  • All mortgage payments since June 2015, showing both names on it
  • 2015 Explaination of Escrow (includes property taxes and homeowners insurance) with both names
  • 2014 & 2015 jointly filed tax returns
  • Photocopy of 2 Visa Cards each with one of our names on it (same number, indicating same account) *OPENED JUNE 2015
  • All bank statements starting from April 2014 to now with the following reoccurring payments highlighted: utilities since June 2015, monthly joint cell phone bill since before marriage, TV bill since June 2015, car insurance bill since marriage, VISA Card payments since June 2015
  • Photocopy of health insurance cards with same group number, indicating same policy
  • Retirement fund beneficiary for both he and I, indicating we are each others 100% beneficiary
  • Statement from Geico indicating we are on the same car insurance policy as of current
  • Photocopy of both NJ Drivers Licences indicating same address (home purchased June 2015)
  • Letter from Human Resources at the boarding school I teach at documenting we lived on campus together in a faculty apartment from August 2014-June 2015
  • 3 notarized affidavits (one family member, two friends)
  • Ultrasound of baby due in October
  • 10 pictures spanning from 2014-current baby announcement

My reasoning for highlighting the bank statements is mainly because we only have my name on the utility bill. I specifically asked for both names to show when we set up our account and they would only allow one name. I am hoping that showing this utility bill is being paid by our joint checking account that it will be okay.

Please let me know if you think there are any holes in our evidence. We used a lawyer for the initial step two years ago and are trying to do this step on our own, so I really appreciate the feedback!

Hoping to mail our package by Wednesday of next week.

I think your list looks good. If you have power of attorney/healthcare power of attorney/wills that is good info as well.

I went through all my documents and highlighted the area of interest. For example- on the retirement accounts I highlighted the line that shows beneficiary. On geico bills I highlighted that it listed both our names. etc, etc.
