Submit Citizenship application or wait?

Hi all,

I am eligible to submit my citizenship application under the 3 year rule, but we plan to move from California to Maryland this August, for my spousal job.

I understand that if I submit after we move I would have to wait 6 months in order to establish residency, but if I submit now my case is likely to be transferred and I would incur further delays. What would be best? If we wait until we move, by the time I can submit I might as well wait for the 5 years on GC and just submit the regular application (save the trouble of having to compile a list of evidence for my marriage as well).

Also, I have the form ready to file, and if we wait things are going to change and we would have to update the form again... not to mention that right now I am employed, but if we move I am likely to not have a job when we apply, so I would have to say I am unemployed on the form.

What to do? How hard is it to transfer a case? How much would we have to wait if we submit after the move? Is it 6 months or 90 days (someone told me 90 days)?

Thank you!

If I were in your shoes...

...and there is a pressing reason worthy of the additional work the move would create, then I would file now. Otherwise, I'd just wait for the 5-year mark. It will make the process less complicated.

Good luck!
