Power of Attorney Dominican Republic - Urgent

Anyone have any information regarding power of attorneys in the Dominican Republic?

My 3 step-children will be getting their medical exams next week and since their mother is here in the US, they will be taken to the medical exam by their grandmother, who has been their care provider since my wife has been in the US (for over 1 year).

Since the mother will not be with them, nor fathers, we will need a power of attorney. Can I construct a power of attorney here in the US (complete with Witness and Notary Public) and send that to her via Fed Ex and use that? OR is there a special process or procedure I need to follow or go through for the Dominican Republic for power of attorneys?

Didnt mom have to leave grandma some type of power to watch the kids?? If so that should be enough but if not i would think you need a dominican attorney because they know their laws and they are in a different country with different laws than our own here in the usa and they do different things with there documents and if thats the case you would need parents origina signature and both parents so you can dhl it here after its drafted and then send back.

I would do that to be safe if you do here then you would need to send a spanish translation and i dont know if it would be valid in santo domingo.

She did not leave anything, unfortunately, but the grandmother was able to take the children to the hospital when something was wrong with them and take care of their school stuff, but I suppose it was because possibly being familiar with the family or a friend of the family and did not need anything to provide care.

Yeah if it has to do with the government she will need something documented local government works alittle different in DR and because its to travel it will cost way more unfortunately.

Ask her your wife to try and find a responsible attorney draft up a document you will need one for each child. Have her find out if you need both parents or just mom to sign then have her mail it to you you can get in a few days then send it back to her.

i wouldnt chance using anything from the usa youll need to translate as well so it may cost more. But im projecting it will cost 50 ush each way plus the cost of the document.

Well we will see. The grandmother called the medical exam place and they said she did not need one. The exam is Thursday, so we shall see.
