So my fiance has been approved and It has been literally 30 days since the approval and still no case number, that is not what bothers me though. What i am worried about is the process after this. I have been trying to contact people as to what I am suppose to do exactly but I dont seem to get any responses back.

So Does it take another 40+ days after i get a case number to move forward in the process ?

2)What should I do now? I know I should fill out the ds-160 but then what?

3) When can I pay for visa interview? can my fiance do the medical now or do we have to wait?

4) Why is this process so confusing ???

Thank you

It shouldn't take another 40 days to get case number you can keep calling them it will come soon.

He can book the interview when he has the case number. He can do the DS-160 himself since he has to sign it in the end, the package 3 should have more info about this and the fee (you need the case number to pay) when you hear from them after the have received the case from NVC

I'm sorry you find it confusing just ask if there is anything else

Thank you for your reply,

So once I get the case number how long does it last to receive packet 3?

2) Do I need that packet to schedule the medical?

3) Do I need anything for the police report other than the noa2 notice to show I've been approved?

Thank you again

I can only answer your first question since the others differs from my country, like here we don't need the case number to get the medical nor the police record. But most countries you only need the case number to book the medical. Try and call the doctor place and see what they say.

Mine got a case number on the 16th and was shipped on the 19th. But this can also differ depending on how they do it, so it's hard to say I would say 1-3 weeks probably.

Thank you that makes sense, I'll call the registered doctors here and see what they say, Don't know why I didn't think of that.

1) So once I receive a case number what is the purpose of the packet 3?

The package is different from each country too, some also get a package 4 and some don't.

My package 3 had info on the DS-160, medical, fee, how to book the interview and what to bring to the embassy and so on...

Im sorry to keep pressing you but you are the only responsive person I've encountered thus far and I want to add I am thankful but one more question:

This is what is posted in my embassy for packet 3: (Appointment Letter (date and time or walk-in)

DS-156 (one copy but they will need two copies for the filing)

K-1 Expedite obtaining the Packet 3 by emailing the consulate and requesting it. It is a form letter, and the checklist.

Checklist

List for Medical Exam Facilities

Medical examinations are required for all immigrant visa applicants. Individuals must go to one of Consulate approved panel

The Checklist is the list of documents you must present to the security at check-in. So have those in a separate folder, from your other documents.)

All we get is a packet 3 but I wonder what all this stuff means, does it make sense to you?

This is not needed anymore must be old info

Don't know here it comes in an e-mail once the embassy has received it. Some have to contact the embassy when the case says ready on the webpage (you can follow your case when you have your case number). You can always try and write them when you can see it says ready.

This is true the consulate have certain doctor or doctors you have to go to you can just go to any doctor

The Checklist is the list of documents you must present to the security at check-in. So have those in a separate folder, from your other documents.)

I could imagine they mean the document you have to bring like birth certificate, I-134 + supporting documents, passport pictures and so on...

All we get is a packet 3 but I wonder what all this stuff means, does it make sense to you?

Thank you... Yea this is such a confusing consulate. It was recently updated so I don't know if they still require that ds156 thing. I guess I'll just complete the DS-160, schedule the interview, call the registered docters and find out what I need for that and go from trial and error I guess. Do you know when I can get the police records and what I need for that?
