When to register for selective service after reaching US

I reached United States last Wednesday.During my interview the visa officer told me to register for selective service.Should I have to wait till I get my social security or should I have to register it ASAP ??

BTW once you get your green card, you can join any army/ navy/ airforce program and that will reduce the amount of time it takes to get US Citizenship from 5 years to 1 year.

Very worthwhile to do and gain citizenship especially since we're in a political climate where certain parts of the country are very anti-immigrant and there's tons of islamophobia attacks against anyone "brown" and asian. Once you have citizenship, you cannot be deported.

If you are a male between the ages of 18 and 26, you need to register. It might make sense to wait until you get a Social Security Number before registering (unless you are very close to age 26 in which case you might miss the window for registering), because you need an SSN to register online; otherwise you have to register by filling the paper form and mailing it in.
