I am fully going to admit that before I lived in a black community (we are pretty much smack dab in the middle of the hood here in Clearwater) I would not have agreed with many articles and opinions that Janelle has shared. It's out of my own ignorance really. Since being here/experiencing it I now can definitely see (especially with police) the racism that can occur (case and point: police showing up on scene to "investigate" a domestic violence call...they stayed in their car and waited until things calmed down). No, it doesn't happen every time, but it does happen.

Janelle, if be very sorry to see you go

Awwww you're so sweet. Just wondering if the mods are going to address our concerns. Tick tock. I feel like some things need to be said out loud instead of just leaving them in our head. Appreciate your support

I am not saying we have seen eye to eye on alot of things that we have debated, but I do value your opinion nether the less. I have disagreed with you at times and I have agreed with you at times as well. So I will say this if there is a violation of the TOS then yes it needs to get dealt with FIRMLY and FAIRLY on ALL SIDES. Not just one or two people and let the other people slide.

That is my biggest pet peeve being unfair and not treating people equally. We are all humans and need to be treated equally both good and bad. Please Do Not Leave.

A noncontributory post and quote of it have been removed.

Perhaps, but you quoted a non-constructive post, that was removed, in your posting. One of the dangers of quoting other posts.

 black wives matter

It's sad I've laid out grievances that have not been addressed. If your not going to address them, come here and say your not going to address them. Silence by mods is just the same as giving your approval.

Yes and people can disagree without getting nasty and constructively argue without bringing up race, religion and references to animals. Marv and I love talking about life issues and that's why we stay. I appreciate you for reaching out to me.

What's sad, will the mods address what needs to be changed?

If you have specific things you want changed, policies on VJ you feel need changed, please do start a topic here in Site Discussion on them.

If you see a post that violates the TOS, report it.

Please remember all mods are volunteers, and have work and social lives. We CANNOT read every post that is made on VJ, even within one forum, even if we posted in that thread before as members. Often, we may post in a topic of personal interest, but then "real life" takes over and we never go back to it. I personally do not subscribe to any of the topics I post in, they would clutter my inbox. The ONLY way you can be sure a moderator sees a post, and will action it if appropriate, is to report it.

Ok, so what thread do I need to start about the rampant racism, anti-Muslim, anti-LGBT threads that get posted in CEHST? If the TOS is followed as it should be, these things wouldn't happen on a daily basis.

I'm sorry, but when I see threads where things such as this are said about Muslims, I have to ask why they are permitted to stay when other lesser comments get removed:

‘This is a muslim thread.

Better mind your manners in here or you might find yourself beheaded, crucified, stoned, thrown off a tall building, burned alive, raped, enslaved, beaten, tortured, or worse.

God is Great™ ‘

Or when talking about black people:

‘This thread is just an example of ghetto trash and the people who identify with, tolerate, support, and defend them by blaming anyone but them for their actions and the consequences of their actions.

Just another democratic utopia run by just another corrupt (black as it turns out) mayor elected by (black as it turns out) ghetto trash. Amazing how many of these events happen in these utopias.’

Shortly after, Nagin continued, "We as black people, it's time, it's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans. And I don't care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day."

‘New Orleans is still chocolate and it's still a crime-ridden dump. The dream is alive!’

Now, here's the punchline. It's the same person making these comments. Not multiple posters, but just one person. A person, I might add who just last week got off of a lengthy suspension for, get this, doing the EXACT SAME THING. Making racist and vulgar posts towards myself and Janelle. He wasn't off suspension for 24 hours before he came right back into our threads and picked up right where he left off at. I mean, let's be real, this weekend him and a few posters made it a point to do everything in their power to bait us, using racially charged language in every thread they could find and made it about black people. I haven't seen so much outdated slang since those 90's movies with the racist old white dudes trying to be "hip". And it was REPORTED, but for some reason, that person is still here, cept since he couldn't rile us up with comments about black people, he's switched to talking about Muslims. It's a huge middle finger to this site and the moderation when you get out of the hole and go right back to doing business as usual.

How many times does it take before a permanent ban is in place? Because off the top of my head I know for a fact this has happened at least 3 times in the last 6 months. And ignoring it doesn't solve the problem. Just because we might be the only two black people here doesn't mean other people don't get offended when they read about welfare hogs and ghetto trash. Or baby killers and terrorists. Because when Janelle posts about the KKK, it gets removed and she's suspended. But others post about the KKK, or make sweeping generalizations about black people, Muslims, and Gays, it's allowed. And those who target the folks who post this mess, get removed for "baiting". She's been warned and suspended a few times this week in response to the dribble that's been allowed here.

Which brings me to signature blocks. Janelle's talks about eliminating racism and her signature block has a quote from the POPE. Yes, her signature block has a quote from the POPE himself on his current speeches. And she gets called out for it. But others have this in their signature:

Protip! Religions and races aren't the same thing

"The majority of claimed deaths from terrorist attacks, 66 per cent in 2013, are claimed by only four terrorist organisations...religious ideologies based on extreme interpretations of Wahhabi Islam" http://www.visionofh...port 2014_0.pdf

86% of Egyptian Muslims support the death penalty for leaving Islam. http://pewrsr.ch/1m4lsPa

A person who has said on several occasions they hate Muslims but this is accepted.

As Val and Janelle have stated, there's a clear difference in how things are handled here. We are scrutinized to the point where talking about race or religion in a place that used to be named politics and religion gets us called race baiters or complainers, but we get to see threads such as ‘No guns for Negros’ posted by a long term member who hasn't met a negative black or Muslim thread he couldn't wait to post here. It's a shame that we have to literally screen what we can post since if the thread happens to be about non minority people, we're called racists even though we never use the language that's used to describe black people, and if we post about black people and racism, we're trying to start a race war. But we see threads like this posted:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/593873-klan-leader-claims-kkk-has-given-20k-to-clinton-campaign/

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/593996-hate-crime-investigation-of-noose-drawing-leads-to-two-black-students/

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/145-current-events-and-hot-social-topics/page-2?prune_day=100&sort_by=Z-A&sort_key=last_post&topicfilter=all

What's funny is black people and Muslims are always the hot topic here, but our input as black people seems to be not wanted and at the same time those same posts get made with the intention to get our attention.

Might as well ban those gun shooting threads, anti-police threads

These threads are never ending well, just going in meaningless circular discussions.

Oh wait, then the the CEHST is essentially useless to have.

Just shut the CEHST forum down.
