In the process of i-484 adjustment of status and after sending form I-864 affidavit of support, my petitioners income AND the income of a household member combined exceed the income requirements, although I have received a letter stating the income does not meet requirements and they want me to find a joint sponsor. I sent proof of both incomes and both forms (I-864 and I-864A) any ideas?

Thanks for any help

In addition to the above questions, Who was the household member? Did you provide evidence as to the relationship between the petitioner and household member?

i sent everything they asked for, tax returns, proof of address/citizenship, pay stubbs etc. we have no dependants it is just me, my husband and my mother-in-law (the household member who combined their income.) what could this be? the person who sent the letter circled *obtain a joint sponsor* but from what ive read, getting a joint sponsor means finding someone whos income can cover the entire thing, and not just a simple add-on who can cover the shortfall of what we're missing, right? so 3 people = minimum 25,200. my petitioners income was 18,000 and household members was 9, which adds to 27,000 so i have no idea. :(

Did you provide your husband's birth certificate, indicating the relationship between the petitioner and household member.

If not, they may have rejected the household member's affidavit and simply used your husband's income for the determination.

I didn't know that could happen.. Although we did send both the petitioners and household members birth certificate. how likely is it if I send it again it will be sent back? I spoke to someone from uscis and they said just send it again. I just don't want to waste more time. thank you so much for your replies
