Hi,

I was wondering, if I could name any representative from my states during the interview if this question comes up?

I live in Orlando, district 5 currently my rep. is Corinne Brown but the are changing the district lines, so I'll have a new representative. My interview is probably in October/November 2016

Thanks

Klaus

No, you can't name any representative. If asked, you should name YOUR district's representative. Name the new representative if you have a new representative at the time of your interview. See http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/ prior to your interview.

Most people don't know anything about local/state government. Not sure why you are concerned about this being a question.

23. Name your U.S. Representative. Question 23 Audio (423KB MP3)

  • Answers will vary. [Residents of territories with nonvoting Delegates or Resident Commissioners may provide the name of that Delegate or Commissioner. Also acceptable is any statement that the territory has no (voting) Representatives in Congress.]

It's one of the potential N400 interview questions.

Because she's a U.S. House of Representatives member, not a state/local gov't official. If she is your representative now, she will still be your representative until January when the new districts take effect (unless something strange happens between now and then.)

If you are in Orange County, check here as you get closer to your interview date.

Since it is being updated right now I can't verify it but I think it will tell you everything you'll need based on your address, not on being a registered voter (which, of course, you aren't yet.)

N-400

Feb. 12, 2016 - Sent N-400 to USCIS (3-year rule)

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

Mar. 14, 2016 - Biometrics

June 2, 2016 - Interview - Recommended for Approval

Why completing a timeline is important. No idea what interview your having

:time:

While time lines certainly help, so does looking at the topic area it was posted under. US Citizenship General Discussion. I think many have likely made that mistake though :)

I keep wondering how many justices a person should say now? 8 or 9 as one position hasn't been filled, but the total should be nine.

Naming representatives, senators, or governors seems like the least frequently asked questions on N400 interviews. Especially the house representatives because they are elected for only two years, and it would be very hard to match the names with the districts applicants reside. The fact that you could name one should impress the interviewer. :)
