RFE initial vs additional?

Is there really a difference?

We got an RFE for initial via text. So far I can't think of what it may be, unless uscis wants to verify something about the 864s. We also did not send the medical with the pack, our lawyer said it was fine to bring sealed to the interview.

We had an already approved i130 when we filed the AOS pack. Had a removal order terminated before filing AOS...have been married a year an a half already, so this sucks to have yet another hurdle to jump.

Anyone know the most common reasons for an initial RFE?

Usually I-864, but it could be anything, really. Look at the bright side: you can delay sending the answer to the RFE towards the end of the time period you need to send it in. That way it's more likely you'll have your interview AFTER your second anniversary. If that were to happen, your husband would get a 10-year GC to begin with and you could avoid having to do ROC.

Lol, always a positive to things, I did think of this. But the concept of an RFE in general scares me.

I was previously married. Could it be my divorce documents? Lawyer sent a photocopy not a certified copy.

I suppose it could be. We only ever sent a photocopy of my husband's divorce decree (a photocopy of a certified copy that is) for both AOS & N-400, I had the original with me at the interviews but was never asked for it. Edited April 22, 2016 by EM_Vandaveer

Well I suppose I'll order 2015 tax transcripts today just in case, for myself and cosponsor so I can feel productive while we wait for the hard copy. We sent printed returns rather than transcripts for that year.

That may very well be it.

Tax transcripts from the IRS are "superior". If you were sending tax returns you need to send W2s, 1099s etc. as well. Basically having a tax return does not prove it was actually filed with the IRS.

Sending tax transcripts from the IRS does prove it (obviously).

Didn't send my own w2 for 2015 taxes, and it was the first year we filed joint, but I know I sent the cosponsors.

We tried ordering 2015 earlier this week but it was not ready yet. But, we got 2014 and others. We plan to try again this week.

I've had our 2015 one for a few weeks because I needed it for something else. Just ordered our cosponsors ones yesterday.

Speculating on the specific of an RFE without the actual physical letter is just that, pure speculation. You will have to wait until you receive the actual RFE notice in the mail, then reply accurately and promptly to the request.
