Im wondering we are ever going to see the videos of the half-dressed deputies wading out of the pond.

There's a difference between accurate reporting of the issues and posting anti- police propaganda in misleading threads. Seems lying cops are a much larger issue here than lying (about) cops.

These three already had auto theft records. Not innocent first timers.

I guess the people killed in this ordeal should have been. Trying to find supplies in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is worth being shot to death.

Yep. Just jumped out the truck and opened fired on some folks looking for supplies. They lied, planted evidence, coerced witnesses, and covered for each other.

What I can't understand is, why is it impossible to be anti-police brutality and NOT be anti-police? The two aren't mutually exclusive; you can speak out about police corruption without dragging the decent ones though the mud.

On topic,

It appears the cops didn't do anything to get the girls out of the car. But they said they did. If they lied about it, there should be repercussions. If they did indeed try to save the girls, it is what it is. But with the reports coming out of Chicago, Ferguson, and the other cases of police misconduct, it's strange to see so many folks dismiss it like it doesn't exist.

Are police allowed to lie?

I get that it appears that the police lied about going into the water to rescue the girls. Given the video at the scene I would have to say that going into the water would have been a dangerous thing to do.

That is clearly wrong unless there is evidence that some of the police officers not in the lone dash cam video did, in fact go into the water.

The girls on the other hand stole a car. Then they tried to outrun the police when spotted. Why is so difficult to understand that what the girls did was wrong, but more importantly criminal as well as getting themselves killed, they also put the general public in danger.

I don't get why the police would lie. But I also don't get how the three little moonbeams weren't committing a string of criminal acts.

Later Friday, Gualtieri posted a different dashcam video from a second cruiser on the department's Facebook page showing two officers walking by with clothes in hand. Gualtieri said that deputies waded into the water and tried to save the girls — and that the video proves it.

"Unfortunately, there's a false narrative that's being spread by people on social media," he said. "We're unfortunately in a society today that if it's not on video, then it didn't happen."

On one of many videos reviewed by The Associated Press on Friday, a camera captures a police cruiser driving to the pond, behind several other police cars. It parks, and then eight minutes later, a deputy in a black shirt walks in front of the camera, holding clothing in his hand. Seconds later, another deputy, in a tank top and holding a uniform, walks in front of the cruiser.

Officials say those two deputies attempted to enter the water but retreated due to safety concerns.

"The vehicle began listing forward, at which point, I took off my duty belt and attempted to swim out to the vehicle," wrote Deputy Logan Tromer, who is also on the Sheriff's Office dive team but who happened to be working the night shift. "I made it approximately 10-15 yards out; however, at this point the vehicle was facing front bumper down and was completely submerged within seconds. Due to the unknown depth, thick vegetation and officer safety concerns, I had no choice but to exit the water and suspend my rescue efforts."

I'm waiting to see a concerned and grieving daddy show up at the press conferences. Ghetto trash aside however it's clear from video that some kind of rescue WAS attempted and the sheriff's office did not lie.
