Did you breeze through US customs? Was your dog snub-nosed? Mine is a pug/min-pin mix so she has like half a snub. I'm planning on bringing her to the US the next time I go back home for a visit. 

Hello Senna! Everything went smooth, and it only took minutes through the custom. As long as you have all the documents then everything is quick. ??

 

PS i attached a pic of my dog. Shes doesnt really have that snub-nose. But i have read that the short snout dogs have hard time to breathe. Is gonna be harder for them if they will be in the cargo But if your dog is small then she can be with you in the cabin.

The screw worm test is not applicable in all states. There are states that you don't need one  Check with your vet and with the airlines.

My dog is small, 5kg at her heaviest. I'm sure I can take her as a carry on but I'm struggling to find airlines that fly to DFW from PH that allows carry-on pets. I sad.

I believe the CDC mandates the screwworm test for all international dog importation into any port in the U.S. For what I understand, there are countries that are free of screwworm and that are not required to furnish the screwworm requirement upon entering the U.S. but the Philippines is in the list of countries that are "required" to have the screwworm test done upon entering.

Yes, your fiancee's dog must have this screwworm test, its a bloodtest. This is a certification given by her vet. It expires 3 days. This is just one of the requirements needed to show to the BAI. You can find specific information on my post please read.

Yes, I flew with Philippine Airlines. I paid the cargo fees for my dog upon check in.

Yes, the US customs check all my documents.

Thanks for the info fruitcake! We have been struggling to find information on the screwworm test, and it seems like even the vets in the Philippines (most of them) are unaware of this "test". We probably have to get guidance from BAI if they have a list of vets that do the test as the dog's current vet might have no clue on how to perform the test.

Oh my dog weighs the same like yours. They wont allow your dog as carry on coz youll gonna have to include the weight of the kennel. And so on.

How come? I had my dog tested her screwworm in Manila. I forgot the name of the clinic but I will look up later. Dont go to the city vet. You'll waste your time. If you live in Manila go right ahead and inquire at BAI, theyre located in Quezon city.

I'm not sure, but my guess is it's not everyday that someone comes in for a "screwworm" test in most vet clinics, that's why a lot of them have never done the procedure before and are quite unsure on how the test is administered. My fiancée lives in Quezon City, so it shouldn't be a problem visiting BAI. Thanks again!

Yeah 5kg is her heaviest. When she gets to that point it means she has to go on a diet lol. I think I'll be able to reach the threshold for the carry-on weight but I'm struggling to find an airline that would fly her as a carry-on from PI to DFW.

Hahaha nice one! Anyway I dont think there is a direct flight from PH to Dallas. You have to get a connecting flights. I had 3 different flights from PH to LA, LA to Chicago and Chicago to FL. So thats how it works. ?

I spoke with korean airline and quarantine department of manila and jfk.. they just need an updated vaccines, health cert and export papers from bai. It should be the latest at least 5 days before the date of leaving.. 

 

They can allow your baby if he or she is 5kg (dog weight + kennel weight)
