yeah technology/ materials science/ metallurgy, all changed. Look at the old rust bucket cars. a 1975 car would rust thru in like 5 years man....look at them now. The ole Yukon is like a million years old, not a speck of rust.

My Durango is 12 years old and rusting in all the spots you expect a Dodge to rust. Look at any Chrysler, and at 8 years they start rusting out in a state that uses salt in the winter. Much better than the cars of the old rust bucket days, but not as good as the other car makers. Its rare for me to hold on to a vehicle as long as I've kept this one, but I'm not so concerned about it and the thing runs like a top. I think I might try to keep it going until I retire and move out of the country.

1- well who told you to buy a dodge. My Yukon, I don't even hose the thing down, and there's lots of salt in NY. It's doing great. Mechanically, every friggin part had been replaced. Next time, I get a Honda...

2- ship a Tundra to the fils, you'd be the king...

3- wt-f man. My usual table is once again, occupied. I'm gonna have to have a talk to the management about that. That table is like my place of business man...

I retire and move out of the country.

1- I like my Durango. And I haven't had to replace all the parts, even if its time for a new body on it.

2- their import taxes on privately imported vehicles are absolutely nuts. Better to by new there.

3- Maybe they decided you're going to jail with all your buddies soon too?

4- I won't let the door hit my azz when I go either. I plan to keep a home here though, I'll have a management company rent it out. But will always have it as a fall back if needed.

There theoretically is a way by law. But, and this is a big but, the customs officials are so corrupt, you're lucky if you have a 50/50 chance of being able to do it. Actually as my wife is a Filipino that has lived out of the country for more than year, by law she's entitled to bring a lot of things back duty free. In practice it doesn't go so well.
