The ones I know do keep their kids rear facing till about 7. They will also bring a seat for a cab.

I like rear facing long term. There is really no need to forward face early, legs bend. Plus sleeping is so much easier when your head is not flopping forward.

Around here it would be nice if parents actually used their darn seats. You don't know how many times I watched the kids standing up between the two front seats and the cops not do a darn thing. Yes they saw the kids jumping around inside the car next to them. They can't be bothered. Just like the ppl who consistently run the red lights.

Speaking of running the red lights. It seems that by simply putting on your hazards lights means you can drive right through them.
