You uncultured midwestern slob....

Ever been to Nippon?

place is like NYC man, crawling with foreigners.

I've been to Nippon many times. I have no idea what the area she lives in is like. Might be they still mention her as that foreign chick in the town she lives in.

No way are metal roofs cool, they're big friggen solar collectors heating up homes. I keep trying to think how I'll get away from a metal roof when I build in the Philippines. But then you hardly see any vents in the rafter areas there too. The situation makes for oven sitting on top of a house there.

Once again, you dumb ....

The rate of heat absorbsion has to do with color, not material.

Haven't you ever felt the difference between a black car, and a white car? Duh!

The lightest material will lose heat the fastest.

And metal, is the lightest material. Numb nut....

as far as the Phils, what kinda metal do they use?

Everyone knows that you use corrugated steel and make it hurricane proof by fastening the out of it over there. Haven't you seen a double layered roof construction over there?

I did, in Malaysia. Kept the house from baking.

I've been to Nippon many times.

1 - I don't care what color it is, the suckers get too hot to even touch under the Philippine sun, unless you could get mirrored and get all the light reflected. You do not see white steel roofs there either, its usually painted darker colors or galvanized. Those are the materials you're going to be stuck building with. They also don't build double roofs. Just steel over an enclosed attic to keep out rats and insects, which still end up full of them. Its not that easy to get local builders to do something different than they're used to doing. Even the newer codes calling for more and thicker rebar and thicker black isn't followed a significant part of the time, and the new codes have been around for years now.

Maybe they're still trying to figure out how to add more zeros to the check?

I wonder how well a living roof might work there.
