Ok dude...

Your electric bill is not going to be a hundred bucks. Trust me on that one...I promise you it'll be more 2-300.

I'm not discouraging you from central air. I think they're great. I love mine. But they're on the other end of the spectrum when it comes efficiency. I have a humidifier on my duct work too, you need it.

But man I'm telling you, I don't care what's printed on the advertisement. These things are the biggest pigs in my house. I guarantee you, your electric will at the very least, double.

Now don't forget, my electric bill was 700, because I have 8 tons of units. 2 compressors, and 2 air handlers. My duct work spans 4 stories.

The electric rates here is probably, likely just slightly higher than Colorado.

Last month we did use A/C and two dehumidifiers going 24/7. We used 850 kwh and our total electric price was $109.38. Even in the hottest month our electric is never above $160 and in the winter it is never below $85.

Another factor to consider is that with a split, you can cool locally. Central air cools as a whole. You can get multi zone Central air, I have 2. But still, even running 1 zone is expensive. The cost of a multi zone central system will also run higher. Because you multiple air handlers.

Yeah but what was the average ambient temp? The thermo-effect of your house?

The compressor motor is the pig. If that stays off, you're doing good.

It's not hard to bring room temp down 5 degrees.

If your house has a lot of southerly Windows, the cooling cost is high. The heating cost is low. Etc...

There's a lot of variables when it comes to HVAC.

That's why in my house, the unit responsible for the top 2 stories is a 5 ton, and the unit for the bottom 2 stories is a 3 ton.

like you we'd have to have multiple units because we have 2 bedrooms upstairs, then the main floor, then the den, and finally the basement.

Depends on the month, but height of summer the averaged temp between low and high is 70. In winter it is 8. We keep the house at about 67ish during the summer. Our house doesn't get direct sunlight in any window due to its design and we keep the curtains closed a lot for privacy sake.

Our bills don't really fluctuate all that much though.

Well, can you imagine cooling a bedroom that you're not using?

In a split system configuration, the 2 bedrooms can share 1 compressor outside. The heads in each room can be set individually, that's the beauty of it. And no, the compressor wouldn't be using the same amount of energy. They have step-motors that varies in speed and strength.

A central unit, when it kicks, it kicks full load. Both the compressors and the air handlers.

My compressors and air handlers run 1 speed, FULL.

your main floor and den can share 1 compressor also.

Or, you can just use 1 big unit, all 4 heads can share it. But 2 smaller units is better.

If you know people around you, with central air, ask them what their cooling bills are.

Everything down to the color of your siding and roof well effect your energy costs. I have brick. It's like a pizza oven...But I tell ya, my heating bill is low, I have huge southerly Windows. And black granite tiles.

And, if you're in the north, you want to lower your heating cost.

In a hot climate, you wanna lower your cooling cost.

My central units are only pigs for 2-3 months out of the year.

And, these split systems, most of them are also heaters! Mine are.

Oh btw. Tiff's thuggy friend PC, her husband got a offer. Work your ### off, get 2000 a month, and 10% stake at a fookpanese restaurant.

And Gump took his old job 3600 a month.

Now 10% stake....how much does this ###### idiot think that Fook restaurant can possibly make?

If they collect all day and all night long, they'll take in about 300k net a year.

And that's flying...

My guess is closer 100k a year net profit.

My daughter loves watching documentaries about castles.

Even I, greater lover of documentaries that I am, find them sleep inducing.

I'm apparently never going to see my husband again - he is going to working down south for a few more weeks, will be gone all weekend for firefighter training, etc., etc.
