WOW, so I'm 10 years younger than your in-laws. Gosh, feel so old...

I'll be: Go for it! My sister got her laters one at age 35 and it's all good :)

puppies, that's all I've got to say about someone 20 years younger than me claiming to be old.

Yeah, that isn't happening. I'll give them until they are 20 and then buh-bye. Adult children rarely live with parents up here, side effect of affordable housing I presume.

Good luck with that. But on second thought, where you live they might run screaming for the cities as early as they can.

The Dane won't stand for it and neither will I. It just isn't healthy. We'll ship 'em off to Denmark before I'd let them ruin our twilight years.

Just so you're aware, I was startled at the suggestion also. I mean when I originally got a vasectomy it was because I was fully determined to not have any more kids. But my wife is of an age she can still have a shot at it, and its highly important to her. Also the culture in the Philippines is not an isolated single family culture like we have here. I'm like a father to one niece there, even if I wasn't married to my wife when she was born. She still calls me Dada, although she has a father. My wife is also considered a mother to her. Yes, she has a mother and father, but our bond is much closer than an aunt or uncle would be in the USA. If my wife an I are lucky enough to have a child, it will live with this same type of situation, having her first parents and extended parents. So even if something would happen to me, he or she would not lack multiple parents. If this type of cultural situation did not exist, I highly doubt I would have been agreeable to the reversal.

I know in Europe it's not uncommon at all for women to have children in their 40s either.

I totally get the extended family thing too. Part of the reason I dont push harder for the kiddo to live with me is because she has her grandma and cousins. Plus all of my family is up there.
