They are young, though. I'm hitting 30 this year and I'm trying to decide if that it too old to have anymore. I had told myself I'd be done at 30 a few years ago, but that was before all the difficulty we had getting pregnant. I kind of want all the birdies out of the nest when we are 50.

Bad news for you, the little birdies no longer leave. My oldest daughter is 28 and still living at her mother's house. My youngest was born when my ex was 34 or 35, is also still living there.

As for those who don't understand why I would consider kids at my age, it has more to do with the culture in my wife's country, where this is not unusual at all. Is not typical, but its common enough that I don't see an issue with it. Had I remarried a younger woman from the USA, I would not be considering this. But I'm not, and I won't be living in the USA for very much longer.

To be clear, I'm startled, which makes me think about a subject, which of course means asking questions and clarifying answers. I'm not judging someone's decision. I'm genuinely curious how people think and make decisions, but upon reading my own posts, realize that sometimes my questions and/or statements may not relate that very well.

There are very few subjects in which I am not open minded and I try rather hard to just not talk about those things. Mostly because it breaks a thread rule about arguing... Not that I wont gleefully argue if I could. My husband says I'd argue with a stop sign; which to his credit I have when they're poorly placed.

Just so you're aware, I was startled at the suggestion also. I mean when I originally got a vasectomy it was because I was fully determined to not have any more kids. But my wife is of an age she can still have a shot at it, and its highly important to her. Also the culture in the Philippines is not an isolated single family culture like we have here. I'm like a father to one niece there, even if I wasn't married to my wife when she was born. She still calls me Dada, although she has a father. My wife is also considered a mother to her. Yes, she has a mother and father, but our bond is much closer than an aunt or uncle would be in the USA. If my wife an I are lucky enough to have a child, it will live with this same type of situation, having her first parents and extended parents. So even if something would happen to me, he or she would not lack multiple parents. If this type of cultural situation did not exist, I highly doubt I would have been agreeable to the reversal.

Yeah, that isn't happening. I'll give them until they are 20 and then buh-bye. Adult children rarely live with parents up here, side effect of affordable housing I presume.
