Every country has weird stuff like that. For example, Norway moved to an English style of numbering where you count by tens, femti = five tens, but not Denmark....

50 is halvtreds, which basically is a really archaic way of saying 2 and a half times 20. French has that too with 90 being 4 times 20 plus 10, but at least theirs has a basis in the modern number system. Halvtreds doesn't really make linguistic sense anymore.

I remember my halvtreds birthday, it was a great party. Doesn't really have the right ring to it either.

A right angle can't be 100 degrees. Because then a circle is 400 degrees, and there's no "400" in metric.

So you can make the circle 1000 degrees, but then the isosceles triangle would be....like...108.335.7333 degrees and ...

Like I said, metric is measuring for dummies. Yes it makes some conversions easy, but it makes people less able to do necessary conversions in other areas because they're not used to having to convert numbers. And just try to build a computer processor based on the metric system. The optimum numbering system is actually binary, but most people can't think that way.

I just go a couple hundred feet and walk in to do passports. You have to battle your way to Staten Island. I feel slightly lucky living in the middle of nowhere. I'm not even all that upset at the 5 hours it will take me to drive to the airport in a few weeks - it took me longer than that once on the way back from Newark.

Just checked the eggs in my fridge and they are packed in dozens. However they aren't referred to as such. Just figure the companies that produce the boxes wanted to copy the style without any great thought into the matter.

Over here the basic package is 10 eggs

But they are also packed in 6 and in 30
